Now veggie sausages I can kinda understand, but trying to replicate BACON?! It LOOKED like bacon (even had a white rim, just like fat) and it actually even TASTED like the real thing, but the consistency of it was like cutting into a very thin piece of rubber. Well weird.

A step too far me thinks. If you're not eating meat, why dress up something to even look like the real thing, even down to the detail and shape.

There's nowt wrong with veggie bacon

Bacon is the only meat I've missed in 17 years of being veggie

If you buy the tesco version it's much crispier than the stuff you had

North American thanksgiving, X-Mas, Easter and the like see $$vegetarian turkey-shaped 'roasts made of something meatless. sorry, eat fish? BBQ a salmon. want turkey? eat it.

Kosher Pork? that's a hoot.

Lots of people making the transition to vegetarianism use meat analogues to make the transition easier. Face it, if you're raised in a meat-centered culture, it can be daunting to figure out what to eat when you're making that transition.

And sometimes, you just want that "comfort food" feel. On Thanksgiving, you want the traditional celebration, but cruelty-free. On the 4th of July, you want barbecue, but cruelty-free. Nothing wrong with that.

As for vegetarian bacon, sometimes you just want a BLT, o baked beans, or maybe just a traditional breakfast, but cruelty-free. It actually comes pretty close to bacon. One thing I've noticed-- it's not fatty like bacon, so for people with heart and/or cholesterol problems, it's a good way to satisfy that craving for bacon without killing yerself.

Well, being as veggie who has never tried proper bacon (!), I have tried the veggie alternative, and it tastes quite good - can't comment one whether it tastes like actual bacon, though!

It does, but not as fatty/oily.

I dunno. I'll give it a try if it is reasonably priced. Has to be better than turkey sausage.

Vegetarian Bacon and Burgers are a lie... but is it the Vegetarians lying to themselves? ... or lying to the meat murderers to try to get them to stop eating meat? ... or both? either way it is a deception or a bullshit to somebody...

there is much merit to the argument that it is not normal for humans to eat huge amounts of mammal meat on a daily basis... humans are NOT top of the food chain animal predators like an African Lion or a Great White Shark... nor does violence in society and international wars have much to do whatsoever with eating meat, which is a popular stupid argument...

... but can't they come up with something better than fake bacon!?!? if it is a better lifestyle, replace bacon with something that is good but different, not some lame spiced soy organic cardboard

Domali then Al? I was in there on sunday morning too. Ive often sat in there and wondered about veggie bacon. As a vegetarian you surely dont want to be reminded that what you`re eating is fake pig flesh so why make it look like the real thing.

Funny, I was there about 1. Went to a party round the corner from Domali the night before. Mark and Greg came up for it too, if we`d have known you were about you could have come along.
