and it's omar khayam, as well. i didn't realize he was still alive; i thought he'd been dead for centuries. what a waste of a talented scientist. i also appreciated his rubaiyat poem.
he probably got too much fan mail from stern graduate students and decided to change the spelling of his last name.

A Scotland Yard special squad is investigating extremists who protested against Muslim cartoons over the last week.
The investigation began as it emerged that a man who dressed as a suicide bomber during the protests had served a prison sentence for drug dealing.
Omar Khayam, 22, was sentenced to six years in prison in 2002 for possessing crack cocaine with intent to supply, according to newspaper reports.
And I thought Omar Khayam invented the Remmington Shaver 
just to provide some balance. i remember a certain offspring of the royal family dressing up in a nazi uniform, and he wasn't actually protesting at anything. let us not forget that britain actually fought the nazis.

The royals were always dubious in that respect tho, having lots of links with German Royalty and the aristocracy thereafter. EDIT: not that I'm saying everyone with a fookin Von in their name's an SS man or anything, just in case it reads that way :D

i know the house of hannover, aka saxe-coburg gotha.
edit. acutally those with the von (the prussian officer class) in their name usually saw the nazis as upstarts, and only accpted them as they well promised war.

But there were also all sorts of dodgy dealings involving our royals, which frankly, seem a bit of a kick in the danglies to those getting flattenned on the front lines. (both wars and all).

sometimes when visting my brother in london i would go there on sunday.loads of nutters talking bollox,drunks taking the piss out of them.it was a real laugh.,but last time i went it had changed too much. groups of turks,greeks etc,200 or 300 hundred in number.you dare not say a word.someone even got stabbed!!
