It was all about when the commonwealth games were in Manchester, no-one really cares much anymore i dont think. The winter olympics are pointless really, iv dont know of anyone who actually watches them.

Nah, I've always thought of the Winter Olympics as the main Olympics' bastard child that they had out of wedlock, considered aborting, but kept anyway because it's against their religion. And now they regret it because the Winter Olympics won't sit still at the dinner table and throws his food at the wall. Which is unusual considering that the Winter Olympics is thirty-three and working the graveyard shift at the 7-11....
What I meant to say is...no, I could care less 
olypics? if not directly involved, mostly just griping-but
once everything purrs up to speed, it's all about sleepless nights and trying not to catch events on tape delay.

i think it is disturbing when the announcers make fun or constantly remind the audience of those few competitors who actually have had a job in their life... isnt it kind of fucked up that so many people train for even a decade with a full paid ride so they can compete for one week every four years, and if they do not get a medal they are seen as a loser 
Well, Sweden can take some medals. Downhill skiing, skiing, icehockey, curling etc.
So yeah, I watch it.
But summer olympics are more fun.

So Canada will stop each time Canada will play, you can bet on that.
As Canada is a lot better in Winter olympics, it's more interesting for us. So yes I do care and will watch carefully what will happen.
And I won't miss a hockey game, that's for sure.
As for Commonwealth Games, let's say this is not really interesting... it's a competition between the UK, Australia and Canada mostly... gives an opportunity to the youth to have more international competitions.. but you also have the pan-American games, etc.. so why bother!

no, no full paid ride over here. mostly holding down two jobs just for any gear. any sponsorship is way too rare.-
other way to get let in out of the cold..and get a meal..

Makes the Olympics a huge turn-off. Wouldn't mind seeing Torino, though. Maybe when the zoo ain't in town...

I'd be WAY more interested if they showed the best of each sport. But they don't. It's just one big "USA All The Way" nationalistic circle jerk over here.

the difference between watching the olympics in the US and watching them in the UK is unbelievable. i get the olympic fever every two years but i want to see competition, not a parade of american athletes. it's times like these that i wish i had the BBC.
americans: remember the barcelona games in '92 when coca cola (i think) had all those advertisements featuring the decathaletes 'dan & dan,' showing them competing and discussing who would win the gold? then, one of them didn't even qualify. talk about pie in the face!
all we get during the olympics are sports in which Australia is good at. so, it happens here too. like i still care about European handball, 0 coverage of that.
just on tv now if you subscribe to pay tv now, you can get the commonwealth games on seven channels. now really does anybody need that.
You want that if you wish to follow a specific competition in full.
Don't you hate it when you're watching a boxing match and they suddenly cut to go to a random sport you don't care about? ;)

so many events, not enough variety in the coverage. with more than one station covering the same event.
then all the coverage cutting away to do an athlete bio.. where is the expert strategic planning?

But only one time every 4 years and I won't cry if I miss it.
I find it incredible that even when you are at the top of your sport, you still manage to fall in your arse at the biggest competition in the world... 
That must be one of the toughest sports there is, one mistake and you're done.

Dan and Dave was Reebok. And I remember it like it was yesterday. I can recall the network breaking in to show us Dan screwing up the pole vault to not make it.
i think the winter olympics are good for countrys who suffer in the summer olympics due to climate situations hampering athletes training etc and also it brings more sport for me to watch so i 'm all for it,
commonwealth games i enjoy for the sport reason too,
Gold, Gold to Australia. go you good thing. Only our third ever gold. well we can't always count on everybody else falling over.
ok so he is originaly a canadian.
'Snowball' could be fun... Don't really care too much, but am a sucker for any type of 'sport' on TV o will probably end up watching some bits and pieces...

do you know the story. when he was 15 years old the canadian olympic committee gave him a choice of either to concentrate on his sport and to give up his business. so, he moved to australia. his internet business is now worth $40 million.
yes. pretty amazing stuff. bst. if his knees hold out and he wants to,maybe he'll come back home for winter 2010.
it's an internet ad-tracking setup that he and his brother first set-up when he 13. as a way to help pay for the lifestyle. it's listed as closed/ underconstruction/ while he was focused on training.
this last while (Canadian)Begg-Smith's. won 3/4 of the last World Cups. came in second on the fourth. 
finished first in the qualifying so went down last. finger up for first before the scores were called. .. gold for Australia.
