I was looking through my CD collection today and realised there are a few CD's that I never play.

I have like 800 cds collecting dust right now. I usually listen to recent purchases or the bootlegs I downloaded from the interweb thingie. Now that I have a bean cds get less playtime.

I never play about 75% of my collection.

I go to a lot of estate sales or garage sales and I'll pick up a box of albums that I've thumbed through and just.. after a while I forget to listen to them. I've at least got them properly organized on a shelf, but getting around to listening to them like I used to just takes blocks of time I don't normally have til later in the evenings.

I bought Dink's Green Mind when it came out, opened it and saw it was orange and green colored vinyl and got afraid of marring the coolness of the thing with my needles. So it sits unplayed.

Also, I'll tend to migrate songs onto mp3 so I can hear them at the computer while working, so the records themselves might not get played but the songs do.

Though, that all said, I bought Tangerine Dream's Phaedra in high school and feared playing it. Same with Nektar's "Magic is a Child". Great song, but don't want to suffer through the rest of the album.

I have around 4,000 CDs. My answer to this question is "most of them."

1. Sex Pistols - Nevermind the Bollocks (I love it but I don't listen to it for over 10 years, I don't know why); - The Great Rock'n'Roll Swindle (Actually a crap record, though when I bought I played it 'bout like 50 times)

2. Elvis Plresley - G.I. Blues, Something For Everybody, As Recorded at Madison Square Garden, Elvis, Elvis Is Back!, His Hand In Mine.

3. Ultravox - The Island Years

4. The Beach Boys - M.I.U Album / L.A.

I'm tired of it. And alot more, but I do listen to 60% of my collection.

Killers - got that album same day as WFTSC - played it through once & then about 2 songs again - its not a good album

Oasis - Be Here Now

i'd say well over 50% of my collection, i always go through fazes, and buy albums of bands that i'm 'into' at the time then move on and they hardly get listened to again, and they just build up dust.

you guys can send me all your useless cd's, bwahahahaha

Most of my collection, for the following reasons:

1. A lot of it's packed away in boxes because I ran out of room;
2. I don't get the time; and
3. a certain member of my family (no names, sorry) has developed an intolerance to anyone's noise but her own.

albums that are gathering dust are

Beatles no1's uk + (Asia import no1's Beatles) 20 Years of New Order promo cd.

Mrs garymac bought me ' Be here now ' on the day of its release played it once , thought to meself " they've fooked it " and have never ever played it since , liked the last few singles and can understand their live appeal , but be here now , left me cold and I went somewhere else.

Mind you I had Bjork's ' Vespertine ' gathering dust for around 6 months after an initial play and I play the fooker to death now for weeks at a time .... that said Be here now was and is a crime .

Anyone who wants to defend it , I aint your audience

I too bought the ALBUM and CD on day of release and found to my dismay that they had LOST IT.Also i have another several HUNDRED CD's that i never play.And loads of 12 inch records,MINIDISCs,tapes and vids/DVDs that also fall into the NOT PLAYED for ages.I MUST stop buying stuff.

I had the Arcade Fire CD recommended to me - what a waste of time.
