According to an interview of sorts with Shaun William Ryder in the Age Preview magazine last Sunday, the Mondays are due over here in July...

i dunno what's wrong this summer, but we have virtually no flies at all.
have you been to Perth? its riddled with the twats.
big buzzy blue ones, that always find their way thru the flyscreen.

not for a while. we hardly even have spiders this year.
my aunt who still lives in Perth, says its been one of the coldest summers for years. mid 20's mostly.
bet it's hot this month though.
Feb was usually a stinker.
hasnt he got relatives down there? Must be offspring of the first wave of convicts.
talking of which, funny kershaw has relatives there!
flies in Oz aint funny, did my fuckin head in ![]()

yeah the flies are hard bastards over there. they operate in gangs; tend to wear blue; and spray maggots as their calling card.
don't mess with an Aussie fly. ![]()

He was living there for a while, wasn't he?! And then got booted out cos he basically forgot to renew his visa, or summat.
Think his solo album was recorded there. Or rather, that lad from the Cabs laid down lots of electronica, then just taped Shaun in his garage warbling on about any old bollox. And then stuck it at as a record.

I dunno. Only seems an annoyance when you leave the city. They're worse in rural areas all over the country.
Can't say I've seen any of your 'big buzzy blue' variety around here. Sounds mean.
For the record, it's been a cool summer in Perth. Revving up a little in Feb but we've had it perfect so far.
I wonder if your aunt lives in Joondalup (far north) or Rockingham (far south). The Little Britains.

Heh, yeah, that's about the size if it. Recorded it with Steve Mallinder and some of it actually came out OK!
He practically lived on Scarborough beach for six months.
Can't say I'm too excited about tour prospects. Are they anything other than shambolic these days?

Don't care much for the Mondays, but will NO ever tour here again - or are they getting a bit long in the tooth. :(

Ha! Yeah, Iluka, know where it is.
It's funny how they all end up in the same little enclaves. You can still probably get a decent block size and 'coastal views/glimpses' up there.

It still might happen, Fay.
There were discussions taking place to bring them out here after the launch of WFTSC but it didn't quite happen.
Two things offer hope. First, they sound like they're still prepared to visit a place like Brazil. Second, there's another album almost complete and they toured the last one in the US, Japan and EU.

I guess I never thought U2 would come here again so yes,
there's always hope. Would top it all off if
came.
Tis not quite the same without her.

loud shout to you Mr Jarvis from t'other end of the world - he does indeed have at least on relative here... cousin Peter Carroll (any relation of Cath Carroll?) ex-local head of Sony Records (based in Perth)...
... as for the flies - you speak the truth!
