That explains somethin , possibly ... around 7.30 a band started rehearsing/jammin , would that have been in North bar ? There was a Peppermint place 'kin years ago probably gone now ? Some may say , not before time though .... also when lookin for a recently filled hole to park on , passed what we took to be a bikers pub , musta been at least fifty sickles parked outside it .

Peppermint Place - what a crap night out we had there. The only time I've ever wished a night out would end quickly. We hired a coach to get there from Manny, then the gorillas on the door wouldn't let us in - too many lads in your group. It got worse when they asked were we were from, they were on the radios to one another "Got a big bunch of lads from Manchester here, come and check them out, make sure they're not known". The girls in the group had gone straight in, we'd hung around the car park for a bit, drinking the lager that the coach driver wouldn't let us drink on his coach: "it's against the law of the land and it's against the law of my coach. A stray can could roll under my pedals and cause an accident". In the end, the door idiots made us split up into smaller groups to walk through the door. How fecking stoopid is that? Inside was awful. Shit music and full of knobheads. Loads of fighting though, which was the best thing about the place. They had pencils and paper next to the DJ booth so you could write your requests. I wrote one, just to break the boredom a bit, some dance mix of a James track that was out at the time, probably. The note was handed straight back to me with "Sorry - too Wednesday night" written across it. I asked the DJ what "Too Wednesday night" meant and he told me to fuck off. They obviously got the DJ from the same finishing school as the doormen. The carpets were sodden with beer and millions of broken wobbly plastic glasses. The lager was so weak that we actually sobered up while drinking it. This was bad news for the girl I got talking to because the beer goggles wore off enough to see what a horror she was. Didn't stop the rest of the lads taking the piss out of me. Twats.
Best bit of the night - 25 lads at the back of the bus placing cans and bottles on the floor under our seats as we left the bus back at home. And cheering when the driver realised what we'd done and stopped to shout abuse after us.
It's called Heaven and Hell now, in case anyone fancies a visit.
dont bother, always be hell never be heaven. in the 70/80's there was rough small club in blackburn called TOP HAT.you used to get free meat pie in a basket then twated by local loons.then the bouncers would throw you down the stairs ![]()
I went to a place like that in Workington. Ended up fighting a trasvestite 'greeter' at the door. The bouncers dragged me and my mate INTO the club, then chucked us throught the fire escape, which was closed until my mate's head it the bar. Then the twats closed the door and opened it again with my head.
Savages.
