Time Travel

There may be no other concept that captures the imagination more than the idea of time travel -- the ability to travel to any point in the past or future. What could be cooler? You could jump into your time machine to go back and see major events in history and talk to the people who were there! Who would you travel back to see? Julius Caesar? Leonardo da Vinci? Elvis? You could go back and meet yourself at an earlier age, go forward and see how you look in the future... It's these possibilities that have made time travel the subject of so many science fiction books and movies. It turns out that, in some sense, we are all time travelers. As you sit at your desk, doing nothing more than clicking your mouse, time is traveling around you. The future is constantly being transformed into the past with the present only lasting for a fleeting moment. Everything that you are doing right now is quickly moving into the past, which means we continue to move through time.

Ideas of time travel have existed for centuries, but when Albert Einstein released his theory of special relativity, he laid the foundation for the theoretical possibility of time travel. As we all know, no one has successfully demonstrated time travel, but no one has been able to rule it out either.

I think Quantum provies the get out clause for both the Father killing paradox and the argument that no one will ever invent time travel or we would have met a traveller by now.

Quantum's parallel universes allow the traveller to kill his father and return to a DIFFERENT universe from the one he left.

Same thing with the lack of visitors from the future.

And of course if you doubt quantum, switch off ANYTHING with a semiconductor in it because quantum predicted their properties and functions long before they were ever created.

seeing as time travel is so damn difficult. a possibility of a sort of time travel is that humanity far in the future recreated earth as it was say in the late 20th century, and a number of other times, so that they can easily visit all those eras. we are all simulations and don't know it.

i'd travel back and see New Order at their peak. I'd catch the smiths as well. and when beer was less than a quid a pint!

Don't know what else. But time travel is interesting but way too complexed to think about.

lol. just if it were possible to go back and speak with family generations and generations back. some great leaders too. also to selectively hold some time/experiences/ situations still while have no carbon limits for going forward. aah.

It theoretically could be possible to see things of the past. The light from the stars in the sky, depending on distance, was actually light emitted thousands-millions of years ago. If there was a way to refract our light back to us at certian distances, we could theoretically see things "as they are happening".

Just a thought.

if there are people here from the future already not revealing themselves, even the people they do come into contact with could change someone elses future thus fucking what would've been there future up

i love that simpsons episode where homer builds a time machine out of a toaster. that explains everything.

I'd go in the future to find out if people can traveling space and discover it, if THERE is another civilization, maybe dozens of. What is done is done, the most important is what we are wainting for - the future.

I'd go back to 1915 and buy some IBM stocks or something like that... returning back to "now" i should already have a swimming pooll waiting for me...

some folk firmly believe that time travel has or will be invented in the very near future (read on for explanation). google the name john titor and read up on some of the sites,if anything interesting, but utter nonsense i hope. supposedly a milatry time traveler from 2036,he and others have been sent back to various time frames to collect artifacts to take back to the future. the guy obviously has some knowledge of quantum and gravity theory,but the jape is let down in some respects. i wont spoil it for you if you dont know about this guy already,but he does claim that in 2007 the cyclatron thingymajig thats in swiss will accidently create micro singularities during experiments coliding particles at near light speed. it takes em a while to suss what has happened but it is this key event that will make time travel possible. so im waiting till next year,if it happens? and you live in usa,europe,asia, youve got 6 years to erm leave.
