Gibson all the way.
Cant afford the one I want so got a Fender Tele instead.
WTF is going on with that Les Paul in the pic? Looks like it has a bloody mp3 player fitted!

Surely there's nothing wrong with a Strat?

good guitars, but just shout THE SHADOWS
If you can find a pic of a knob with a Les Paul round his/her neck you've done well!
Rickys for bass though, defo

I'd have to say the Yamaha BB line is my absolute favorite in terms of cleanness of design, weight, and finish, but hell if i'm going to deny that the Fender Jaguar and Telecaster designs aren't uniquely wonderful. I love the industrial, stamp-pressed, anti-fashion look to the Jaguar, and fucking 'ell that Mustang bass
. It's nice to have some snarl to a bass sound instead of that typical rounded-out rubberband bouncing sound that every Brit bassist in the 80s was sporting.
Also, an F-hole can make an ordinary Strat look great.
Also, look at this: http://www.bobdaisley.com/guitars/Ronnie%20Lane%20Zemaitis%20bass.jpg
