So this past weekend a dear friend of mine wrecked her new car while I was a passenger. It was due to snow and ice. I did NOT want my body parts in Indiana, so luckily only the car took the damage. Unfortunately, the damage was all on the passenger side.
However, my friend freaked out because it was on the morning of her wedding day. And I'm still sore from the wreck. :\ohwell: Damn soft tissue injury, I'm sure.
Anyone have a car crash or accident to tell me about, so I can have some humor during my road to recovery?
Cheers,
Emma
Wow! Lucky her that her wedding wasn't ruined, and lucky you that you still have all your parts!
OK, here's my last accident:
I was on my way to work, driving my beautiful little Alfa Romeo Spider, and stopped at a red light. I was behind a line of cars, all waiting for the light to change. I looked in the rear view mirror and saw a large SUV approaching me at a very high rate of speed. It was obvious that the driver was going too fast, and wouldn't have time to stop. Then she slammed into me. My head whiplashed back onto my roll bar, which rang my head like a bell. I felt my head, and it was covered in blood. I got out of my car, she got out of her car, and the first thing she said was "Oh my God, you're bleeding, are you OK?" The second thing she said was "I'm such a lousy driver, this is the second time I've done this in a year and a half."
Glad to hear it, dear.
My car was totalled. I went to work, despite being banged up. After work, I called a friend to come get me. When I went to where I had left my car, it had been towed. Apparently, the Portland Police Dept (Always give credit where credit is due) was too busy eating donuts to come investigate an accident, but they weren't too busy to tow and impound my car. Donut-munching mofos. So my friend drove me home, where we cracked a couple beers, then, as she was leaving, I decided to walk myself over to emergency to get checked out. Nothing wrong, thankfully.
So, this 17 year old girl in her daddy's SUV destoyed my car, didn't put a scratch in daddy's car, and then I couldn't get her father to even return my calls about his insurance (she didn't have the info in her car) until I threatened a lawsuit (I am a law student, after all). I left a message on their answering machine with said threat, left for work, and by the time I got to work, there was a message for me asking me to call them. :D
Now, the downsides are that I didn't have insurance on my car, so I lost my driver's license for a year. Nothing happened to little miss princess, though, because daddy was insured. So I lost my license (In Oregon only, because I have a California license), little miss princess didn't lose her license, her insurance company paid for my car, but not my medical, because I wouldn't sign off on a release that said all my expense had been paid (I was concerned about whiplash showing up later).
And sure enough, three years later, my neck is sore all the time. Didn't start happening until this last year, and there's nothing I can do about it now.
Lost my car, lost my license, and now have recurring neck pain.

Anyway, I'm glad you survived, Mrs. Peel, and glad your friend was able to go forward with her wedding (I presume), and wish you a speedy recovery. Glad to have you back safe, and soon, sound.
