i'm thinking of gettin together a firm of ASDA boys to take on the TESCO boys crew. in the car park at Sainsbury's on Sunday arvo.
So... Twatto...are you with ASDA or against ASDA.
bit like the Outsiders, but with carrier bags.
Tesco are the pits. Opening 10 new stores every day, driving out local traders - newsagents, sub post offices, butchers, bookshops, off-licences (US-equivalents are liquor stores), you name it - depriving small communities of "next-door" businesses and forcing them to travel further. And if Tesco find one of these business "elements", such as the postal counter, losing money they just close it!

ASDA is WalMart and as such make tesco look like a charity :D

Yeah they are opening a huge one near me, they aregonna take up like, all of the precinct, so all the other shops will be gone.

Couldn't believe Tesco is selling "Singles" that cheap. I know that this has been addressed before, but as an American, how should I view Tesco? Over here, we've got CVS Pharmacy and Walgreens. Does Tesco also sell generic drugs?
What's funny is that Singles is still ridiculously expensive on the other side of the Atlantic.

I think you'll soon find out for yourself what Tesco is all about in 2007 if you live on the west coast.
It certainly will be interesting to see what Tesco does to the American marketplace. I mean, Walmart is pretty cheap, so if Tesco competes against them at lowering prices, it will be curious, at least from a consumer's POV, to see what happens and who will come out on top.
I'm still waiting for Ikea here. Two thousand and-something.
Nearest one is in Seattle. Never been except to the one in New Haven. I needed to buy maybe half of what they had, and trash the other half with high explosives. I did manage to pick up a very cool blue LED lamp there; it's my Blue Monday lamp.

two shops in sydney, and two in melbourne. there may be a couple more in the county. i remember them from germany, back in the days when htey still used the elk in their advertising. i had an ikea shirt, and baseball cap.
Okay, I'm jealous now of where you live, Ron. Australia has one of my favorite leather purse manufacturers, and they no longer sell their products in America.
Not only that, Australia looks like an awesome place! You have the outback and then you have Sydney, not to mention the cool people (some of my good friends are from Oz).

yes it is a great place. i do sometimes feel that i live in the wrong country, perhaps a trip overseas will cure me of that.
