I didn't get to see the whole race, but I'm betting that Williams will be a force to be dealt with. Did you see Nico Rosberg suck up Christian Klien like a vacuum cleaner? It's being said (at least by Williams) that the Cossie motor just may be the strongest on the grid.

Like you said, it was nice to see something other than follow the leader. And, Scott Speed didn't embarrass himself. He didn't break his car and he didn't finish last.

I been saying all along Williams would piss in a few fuel tanks....I mean....it's not like Cosworth ever built a V8 F1 engine that remained in service for over 30 years (albeit the last few as a v10)

Wonder how stupid Ford feel for letting Cosworth go, dumb move designed to stem temporary cashflow as far as I can tell.

So Scott Speed is the very best you seppo's can send us...COME ON!!!! there HAS to be better than that...what about Danika Patrick?

Mind you after Indy last year...we're lucky the USAF didn't bomb f1-valley, and rightly so.

PS...speed wont finish last while there are two japanese drivers in a japanese team run by a japanese driver....I dunno wht it is about those guys....over dose of enthusiasm or something...but I predicted a clown show from them and they didn;t dissappoint, and I'm confident there is better cabaret to come from them

As a disciple of Unlce Henry, it pisses me off to no end that they dealt away Cosworth. To your point about cash flow, I also blame them for cutting off their financial noses to spite their face when they underfunded, poorly managed and then pulled the plug on the Jag-yoo-uh F1 program.

As for American drivers that can turn left and right you have to look at what racing has been popular in the States over the last 30 years. In my opinion, the popularity of open wheel oval racing (although now waning) and the explosive growth of NASCAR over the last decade combined to suck up all the talent into a left turing vacuum. At this same time, Can Am and the original form of IMSA takned. The result was big time, factory backed road racing going the way of the dino. SCCA still put on their show, but it wasn't anything that attracted crowds or television ratings.

However, ALMS, the new IMSA and Grand Am are standing on their own two feet and grooming young drivers. I think the fruits of their collective efforts are 5-10 years away.

The good news for us Yanks is that Bernie wants a piece of the American pie. And, as we've seen in the past, what Bernie wants, Bernie gets.

it's not just their being small and dried up looking....there's also the issue of having the lobes for buiness.

ALMS looks great, but I miss that I never got to see the classic era of Can Am..... those were some fucked up motorcars.

I could always tolerate CART on ovals becaue it's just friggin stupid quick, and I watch Nascar occasionally for the same reason everyone else does...the inevitable pile up....but I never could understand IRL on ovals....as JPM said after walking the 500 on his first time in an IRL car..."(that noise he makes, that's a bit like bugs bunny) they should just velcro down the gas pedal and leave me to turn left all day".

I think they freaked out and thought Lauda (who, lets face it, ranks somewhere between Jason and the terminator in the instoppability stakes) was gonna kill them all in their sleep so the dumped Jag like a hot spud and moved house.

BTW...did anyone who seen the ITV coverage notice Steve rider CORRECTING THE KING!!!!! and getting a look that said "don't fucking correct me mate, i'm the king" LOL..what a tube. Meanwhile Martin Brundle is like best pals with the king of spain every since he took the old fella out in the 2 seat McRon.

Funniest thing I ever seen was a few years ago when Brundle was trying to get a word with him and te goons were forming a barrier and ignoring his repeated statements to the effect of "no really he said it was cool"....Juan carlos spots him and literally knocks his goons flying to come and shake his hand.....priceless. A coupla years later the same thing, only this time the goons let him through and the king turned round and said "I don;t know you...who is this guy" and burst out laughing as the goons descended, before shooing them away.
