I've read reports that the split in 1996 was presented as a response to the Sex Pistols reforming, yet in the autobiography, it isn't mentioned.
Was it presented as that at the time, or was it someting tagged on retrospectively to give them mor credibility?
i just had a look at their homepage. the last split i know of was in 1996, and there were a few line up changes before then as well.

also came been back with another line up change in 2002 and did some gigs including london.did a lot of old stuff apparently but i knew fuck all about it until about 3 months ago so didnt get to go of course 
i'd love to see them do the old stuff just one more time 
also i called the wedding off when she started shagging budgie in 1986 and i dont even get a christmas card off her anymore 
i saw them once: in '91 or '92 when superstition was released, and had to wade through a sea of robert smiths to get to my seat.

Yup, that's exactly how they presented it at the time. Whether it was just a 'lucky' coincidence or not is open to speculation...

That Nocturne dvd is apparently going to include the Banshees' Play at Home documentary and a Whistle Test appearance. What are the chances of New Order's next dvd containing their Play at Home? Don't hold your breath...
