Obviously, I'm a Buffy/Spike shipper. They had a lot more tension and chemistry than any other couple on that show. I think my favorite quote of Spike is:
"I may be love's bitch, but at least I'm man enough to admit it."
Does it make me shallow to admit I only occasionally tuned in on the off-chance of catching Alyson Hannigan getting up to her vamp lesbian shenanigans? 
Not really a fan though, I thought of it more as an unintentional comedy than a serious sci-fi/horror thing 
same category as the original Star Trek series.

I loved Spike's humor, even when he was mocking Buffy. For instance:
Buffy: What are you doing here? Five words or less. Spike: Out. For. A. Walk.....Bitch.
or their first 'date' when they're in the car and he starts to sing 'i wanna be sedated.' she asks (to paraphrase) 'is this a date? to which he replies, 'no, no, of course not.... why? do you want it to be?'
so cool, yet so insecure, that william the bloody.
i think i'll watch 'once more, with feeling' before i go to bed.

it's absolutely comedy, and meant to be intentional. a very witty show. well-written.

I think Spike was so appealing because you knew he could be very evil, but for the Slayer, he was always trying to improve himself for her sake -- to prove to her that he was worthy of her love.
Have to admit that I've only ever seen one episode, the "silent" one with the creeps exploding at the end, if I recall correctly. 
Enjoyed that one for sure, I'm the sort who doesn't really follow the TV schedules too much (I gave up after X-Files got moved from Sundays, really), so I really never paid much attention to it. Guess I should watch the DVD sets.

that was hush, with 'the gentlemen': season 4. i had the title (hush) under my avatar for a long time. one of buffy's great episodes and one of the creepiest. ironically, it was nominated for best screenplay at the emmys!

agreed on charmed. getting him involved on star wars could be good, or so so. i have firefly and serenity, and i have to admit i wasn't instantly taken by it. then again if its smart dialogue you want then he's your man.

no seven series, which is six discs per series. i've been told there is to be one big box set coming out soon.
oops -- sorry for that..I meant to say 7 DVD collections!
But one HUGE collection containing all 7 seasons would be just fine!
Maybe I should hold out for that release date?

hmm. I think I should first buy the 2006 collection of the Emma Peel DVDs, and then buy the $227 Buffy collection.

Do I actually have to admit that I watched the full 7 seasons in less than 2 months last summer? 
(not to count all the Angel seasons as well)
Actually it was better than what I was thinking... obviously some episodes weren't linked to the whole story over the 7 seasons, but I had to admit I was quite surprised by it.
I started to like watching american series on DVD, it's much more interesting than following your very odd season of "some new episodes mixed with reruns" I get all the time while trying to watch Lost.

Someone told me late last night that Lost was....lost in the current season. Sorry to tell you that. So I guess you should probably stick with the first season and leave it at that.

Someone told me late last night that Lost was....lost in the current season. Sorry to tell you that. So I guess you should probably stick with the first season and leave it at that.
actually we just had the episode where the days of the tailies were detailed, and they meet up with the rest of the group. a top episode. i'm dying to see how this develops.
I'm a fan of all things Whedon... I resisted temptation but after the first 3 series of Buffy I watched in by accident then that was that!
The only bad thing about the Whedonverse is that you have to pay 100% attention 100% of the time; otherwise you miss many a quick one liner.
ANGEL and FIREFLY is / was ace as well...
