I am against self service checkouts. Let them consider they are lucky to have me as customer... Have to make myself my own checkout ? Stupid !!! What's next ? Cleaning the shop because I went shopping by them, unloading the lorries ? And what about the people working at the checkouts ?

True. Albeit they save money (going for cashier's salary) to make the goods cheaper there for US. So if a CD will be 1 cent, I will run to unload the lorry :thumb:

I don't mind self-service checkouts, mainly when I've only got a couple of items and want to get on my way.

No Tescos here, but there was good news though, the local Target had a number of South Park seasons series DVD's for only 20 dollars, a very nice bargain. Picked up Season Four, I just had to watch the Fingerbang episode again.

You bet.....I wonder if that sale is a chain-wide, or local, occurence.

There is a HUGE Tesco Extra down at Pitsea, near Basildon in Essex on the A13.

I worked near there some years ago, but it had a massive food bar with four different sections. I think it was 'US, UK, Indian and Chinese'.

Also had a large clothes shop (of GEORGE proportions), a Post Office, locksmith, and even a barber.

These Essex lasses never had it so good..

I guess Dave Gahan and Alan Wilder shop at that one.

every once in a while, when i tired of the drab somerfield, i used to shop at the tesco in canary wharf when i lived north of the docklands. it was a bit of a hike, but it was worth it. it was very well-lit and the shelves were low enough so you could check out the people in the other aisles. it was a meat market in more ways than one. aah, those were the days.

 Although it is a bit of a shock seeing someone write 'Watford is pretty good' - the Tesco is one of its best features...

Bar Hill just outside Cambridge is basically a town built around a massive Tesco - apart from the store there is a pub and that's about it - a whole community built around a supermarket - that's got to be pretty weird, hasn't it?
