I have installed:

AntiVir HP Ewido security suite System Mechanic Pro Trojan Guarder Spyware Stopper and Spy sweeper on my PC

but not Kaspersky

Can you confirm that installing Kaspersky will only slow everything down?

(Shit it's feels like using two condoms at the same time in order to provide more protection haha)

yeah, while I personally use kaspersky as my only running protection (remember my windows machine isn't really used online much, instead I use a real computer that has security as a builtin feature...unless you'd like my root password ;) )...running 2 virus checkers is a recipe for A. disaster and B. getting a virus. Also make sure only ONE of the installed packages is doing realtime virus protection, as you'll end up with them clubbing each other to death all the time.

I had to get rid of Norton BTW...the older version thought my USB steering wheel was a virus ( no, really it did) and the new one was SO fucking slow I lost the will to live.

Of those I have come across, Kaspersky and AVG appear to be most useful.

Cheers!

Kaspersky is indeed the best but since I don't pay for my software, I don't really have the licence code if I want to update it.

It says this AntiVir thing is valid till 31/08, think I'm gonna be safe for a while :)

That will only protect you from outside attack, it offers no defence against viri.

BTW..NEVER pay for anti-virus, it's a protection racket organized by MS and symantec (norton's owners), they could stop it if they wanted but that would cause too little money to be made.

Paying for anti-virus is financing organized crime.

Or using outhouse excuse for mail, or downloading "free" software...it's usally full of spyware in windows, where nothing is free in any way.

I use a corporate version of Norton. Updates frequently. Free for me and does the job fast and effectively. AVG is ok for a free one. I pay for Trend Micros Antispyware. Faster than Spybots and AdAware and updates much more frequently. 10 times faster than both.
