Have you ever walked out?

Have you ever walked out of a concert? I've only done it once, and it happened a couple of years ago.

I won some radio contest, which included dinner, limo ride, and scores of concert tix to one of the best music venues in town.

One of the concerts had a couple of opening bands. They were awesome! The crowd was screaming for more when the Cardigans left the stage. We were at the foot of the stage, where the view was good.

and then Liz Phair, the headliner, came on. I wasn't familiar with her, but once I had heard two songs, I was out of there in a flash.

I think other people in the audience were thinking the same thing, but they had paid an outrageous price to see her, whereas I had paid nothing. And I still walked out on her.

I have never walked out of a concert, but I have walked out of a movie.

I was in a summer academic program when I was in high school. One of the movies that they were playing in the auditorium was Godard's "Contempt" with Brigitte Bardot. I couldn't stand her! Her character is so narcissistic. In the first scene she was naked with her boyfriend and asks him if he liked her, her ass, her breasts, her nipples, etc. Bardot is no actress. I left the auditorium in 15 minutes.

First time i ever saw New Order live was the o2 wireless festival last year, i took my then girlfriend who wasn't really a fan and we had a massive row, she walked out, i didn't and i managed to squeeze to the front and had the time of my life!

If she'd been there you just know she'd have got crushed and i would of had to watch it at the back or sumin'.

Loop and Grandaddy - but on both occasions I'd only gone to see the support acts (Lush and Snow Patrol).

Don't remember ever leaving during someone I'd specifically gone to see.

only ones i didn't pay for, like gravity kills and KMFDM back in 1996. twice: once in DC and two nights later in new york. frankly, i wanted to get a drink instead.

I walked out of Pixies at Brixton 2004 (4th night), and famously didn't hang around for an encore at an NO gig once, St Austell, and the buggers came back on after 20 minutes of keeping the audience waiting!

i seem to remember walking out off a few movies, that were so bad that their titles are stricken from my memory.

I walked out of a Wonder Stuff concert, because they were just awful. Miles Hunt called us all 'a bunch of c___s' and there was a mass exodus.

I also walked out of a Fundamental concert, cos the support acts were just fantastic (Banco de Gaia and Transglobal Underground), and i didnt want a load of rapping ragheads sour my evening. Besides.. it was last orders at a fine pub nearby.

Of course.

I stormed out of the Ordinary Boys in protest last october. They played most of the 2nd (shit) album and had seen enough 40 mins in.

Same reason when i left Badly Drawn Boy in the Bridgewater Hall 2 years ago.

Walked away from Coldplay at glasto after they had played most of X & Y and from then on played most of the old shit.

Left a Morrissey gig early (birmingham I believe) at the start of the encore, which was Last Night i Dreamt... and i just couldnt be bothered anymore.

I almost left NO at the Apollo after hurting my ankle. But common sense and alcoholic instinct prevailed.

Left a BRMC gig a couple of years ago less than half way through after being shit beyond all possible description.

I'm sure theres more as well.

I walked out of Coldplay on the Rush Of Blood tour. Extremely hung over.

Dunno about a concert-but the last movie I walked of was "Alexander" walked out halfway through...what a steaming pile of crap!

I coulda seen "Ray" but I just had to see the other one!!!!

Walked out near the end of a Butthole Surfers gig in 91 or so, it was a mean-spirited crowd that was depressing to be around, seems like everybody was looking for a fight. I'd seen 'em before and had a great time enjoying the music, films, flames, dancers, bullhorns, etc. but this show had the worst vibes I'd ever encountered before, highlighted by the grinning monogoloid with the Charles Manson t-shirt randomly throwing himself amongst people who wanted no part of him.

Only film I walked out of was Christopher Reeve in Monsignor, but no big deal since I worked in the theater at the time. I did fall asleep watching L'aventurra.

Because the missus was really unwell, and it was at the end of the main set. We knew there would be an encore, but we also knew that the Tube Station would be mobbed unless we got there quickly. Worth the inconvenience of leaving the gig before the encore, we got home quickly. Not like I hadn't seen them before, was it?

Only two spring to mind. CITIES IN THE PARK,Heaton Park.I'd seen Electronic,Revenge,808 State and Durutti Column.But when the last band..err...Happy Mondays came on,I left after two songs.Shame really,I quite like a lot of their stuff now,but at the time,I only liked them for their remixes. And last year LIVE 8..On our feet for 12 hours with bugger all to eat.By the time Pink Floyd came on,we were waining.When Paul McCartney came on at turned 11pm,it was time to find a crowded tube back to the hotel.

New Order Warrington '86 & Happys Bradford '88 spring to mind.

Never walked out from a band playing. Blissfully wandered off from DJ's several times ("music's over, let's skip the disco")

I once walked out of a Hawkwind gig, at Wolverhampton Civic Hall. Never seen em so bad.

Well, sometimes good things can come out of a row! You probably enjoyed yourself a hell of a lot more without the shouting matchbox! :)

Yes. That was their first tour in France I think. Nothing compared to the ones we know now...

got caught sawing logs at a radiohead show. (it was one of the few gigs they did in support of "Kid A" man, did i get a talkin' to from the ex for that one)

walked outta a tori lame-os show when me and the ex (she wanted to see her again for the 7th time) got into a nasty row

was forced to walk outta two pinback shows (local boys) before they started doing much on a national level. the ex was pissed off about something and didn't give two fucks about them. now she has become super-fan and swears that she never went to see them when they had started.

walked out on a few album leaf gigs too, but that is only because i've seen jimmy and the boys do their thing more than i can count on my hands. its gotten to the point where it is just fun to grab a beer and heckle them...

Somehow I ended up in the cinems seeing Austin Powers 2 with my granny - we got out of there thefore the rocket launching sequence at the end, thank god.

I don't think i've ever walked out of a gig early.

It really bugs me when people leave a football game early to get a five minute start on the traffic. Serves em right when their team scores in the last minutes.

I bet nothing in footie OR music comes close to the red exodus at Hockenheim as soon as Schumacher retires.....it's like the bull run in Pamplona.

Mates of mine were at the "trip to tip" one year and went to see The Orb, of course they arrived at the main stage 5 mins into the Orb's set. Some teeny bopper band had been on before them, and my mates reported being trmapled by people RUNNING the other way as they tried to get in....eventually the place was 1/5 full of hammered fuckers and everyone else had legged it (tho considering the safe distance from an Orb gig is about 2 miles I doubt they really escaped)

None to be honest, and i've seen some shit gigs.

At Reading 98 after the New Order set, we left the main stage just as Garbage were coming on to go and see Spiritualized... Wish we hadn't bothered really, as Spiritualized were so far up their own arses, the experience was painful - should have endured Garbage instead! :p

I walked out of a Placebo concert in Brixton a few years back, not normally my type of thing but I was persuaded to go so on hearing a few songs I then had to persuade them that the bar in the high street was a much better option.

garbage came on before the order at the big day out. i loved them. mind you i at that stage was having my fight with the friggin bouncers who just wouldn't let me into the mosh at the new order stage. after attempt number four i was in.
