I finally saw Formula 51 this weekend--twice. Fucking hilarious. Was pissing myself laughing.

I need new movies to rent--comedies please I hate crying.

Suggestions?

Bloody amusing movie defo.

I'm afraid I cannot offer you any advice on movies as I usually have to be drugged and tied to a cinema seat to get me to watch anything made in Hollywood..and british films are so often about nothing at all.

I can reccomend some good audio books and plays, as that's where my head's at for entertainment these days. Tho let's face it, most of it's sci fi.

Not seen road trip or teen movie.....tho I suspect the latter to be anoher el-crappo US version of carry-on, leaving no gag unmilked....you're allowed to like it tho, you aren't old and cynical yet :D

The only bit of spaceballs that lodged in my brain is "this man's an asshole" etc.....

Oh...and "ludicrous speed".

not only is it a far more coherent movie than 2001...it manages to tell you what that one was about without you reading the book...all in 30 seconds.

is that the one with Ricky Tommo and Sam L Jackson. 51st State innit.

I had Jacko's Kangol coat at one point that he wore in the film. It even had stage or prop or something written on the side under the pocket. A graffiti'd coat is useless to me though, so i binned it.

Cambo...not another teen movie takes the piss out of all the films like breakfast club etc and its the best one of the lot. rent it out and i guarentee u will like it.

road trip is mint. about this guy who is in a uni miles away from his girlfriend, but he ends up having sex with this other girl, who films it. on the same day he had made a video saying hi to his girlfriend, and his mate mixes the tapes up and sends the wrong one to his girlfiend.

so they go on a road trip to her uni to try and get to her before the tape gets there. its well good.

I'm aware of all that....

teen movie sounds like airplane/scary movie with the gags subtly changed.

And Road trip sounds like an episode of Terry and June....."darling the vicar will be here soon for the cricket tape...be sure not to leave out the one of you and the coalman spit roasting me"

But I watched such pish once so I can hardly slag you for it.

Animal House and Revenge of the Nerds are still two of my all time faves.

I know it's not a comedy, but everyone knows Pulp Fiction is the best.

A moive about some stupid morons who fuck up a robbery and shoot each other cos of it, that's a 5 minsute cartoon, not a feature film.

EDIT: the coolest thing I have watched in ages is a series from New Zealand called "a river somewhere" which claims to be about fly fishing for trout but is really just two mad kiwi's having a rip roaringly good time all over the world, with the occassional shot of a rod. the scenery and the atmophere, and the sheer majesty of the places they visit is just astonishing, they're on a mission to fish in places that are nearly impossibe to fish. Also, no fish are harmed in it save for a couple taken for food. I have never seen a program that more accurately embodies the truth that "there is more to fishing than catching fish".

those are two aussies. they or their producion company have been responsible for films such as the castle, and the dish.

ah i remember those dim dark dark days of 1993 when they and their mates first burst on our tv screens with the late show.

check out working dog productions.

I assumeed they were Kiwi's cos they seemed more at home their than Oz. watched all of series one, my mate is bringing me series two, which among other things, features them poisoning some food with death chillies and re-enacting the world cup final on the beach cos they are stuck on some island with no tv.

yup it is great series. have you seen the one where they were in italy?

them two tommy g and rob sitch, were/are one of the great oz comedy duos. they were great as graham and the colonel as sports commentators on the late show.

you can tell i'm a great fan of the late show. i have it on dvd.

BTW movies in which they or at least some of the old late show crew have some involvement such as the castle, the dish and crackerjack are highly recommended by me if you want a good chuckle.

they and their mates have been responsible for top radio shows here such as martin/malloy (radio) the panel (tv) ,and Russell Coight's all aussie adventures which totally take the piss out of all those aussie bush men shows. all good stuff.

Yeah I seen the italian one...LOL "three grown men in a river, up a mountain, trying to outsmart a fish". Must tell my mate all that you have imparted, I think we both assumed they were just escaped fishing journalists or something :D

some aussies have a knack of making a quirky funny movie. having said that 90% of aussie movies are shite.

i think Oz makes some of THE best films.

eg Storm Boy. Walkabout. Proof. Muriels Wedding. Chopper. Romper Stomper
