Tin opener recommendations — Forum Archive

Anybody got a good one that works?

All my life I haven't had one and I am nervous of making another mistake purchase.

just get the cheapest all metal one. those fancy ones with plastic handles always break. the same goes for those elecronic ones, plus for some reason they can't actually open all tins.

I bought one from Woolly's that was quite a bit dearer than the others, and it's been brilliant. Think you get what you pay for. When i've bought cheap they've been crap.

I've seen ring pull tins Al, but i've never seen one that can open itself!

BTW, to return to topic.....general advice....you want the sort with nice large cutting wheels, the larger the wheel the easier is will be to turn and cut round with. Engineering course NOT wasted Yes!

It's not my pet name for him! Think it is his mate's kids that call him that aaaawh!! :)

Angel of the North - very accurate for the 'dancing'! Although he does a Barney style train arms sometimes too!

Apparently Brabantia make good ones, problem is you only tend to go and buy a new one when your other has stopped working, thus putting pressure on you to get one NOW!!!

I admire your research and hope you aren't forced into getting one from Poundstretcher at the last moment!! This is far more interesting than revision

Good point about the last minute thing, I should make a special trip to John Lewis and choose carefully.
