Our relatives in Scotland have started one of these recently, it's slowly building up.
I think it goes back to the 1700's so far. We trace back to County Tyrone - later on Scotland, now there's a good few of us down here.
Where do you lot hail back to?
my uncle is a genaeologist and for christmas last year he gave everyone in the family a CD-ROM which details our family tree back to 60 B.C. 1200 pages of it! of course there were gaps, but he managed to get bios on hundreds and hundreds of people. quite fascinating, really.

Did they pretend they were Scottish as well? 
With gaps I can trace it back to 1580s. Without gaps I can trace to 1840s.
As I'll get home I'll post some pictures.

My Dad's maternal side came from Aberdeen, Scotland, while his paternal side hailed from New Brunswick. My mom's side of the family is a real mystery. Yes, she's Okinawan and I know that my grandparents and great-grandparents are Okinawan. However, no one knows for sure where Okinawans came from. They are so different from mainland Japanese. It could be possible that Okinawans may have migrated from Polynesia.

it will be very complicated and very messy. when or if i ever get it done i will probably be able to trace my family to Adam. it is just that many records were destroyed some 60 years ago.

Yeah i know what you mean. Gotta be ready to put loads of time and effort in to it.

My kids are even more messed up considering their 1/2 me and 1/2 Okinawan. . .and Okinawans are a mystery like Cozzie was saying.

Apparently I've got loads of cousins and half aunties and half uncles I don't know.
My dad was sayin something about it but I can't remember 
lesse on mom's side-German & Irish dad's side-Russian Jewish (thanks grandma) and Croatian
my great great grandfather came from Cork Ireland in the 1850s and on the other side-near Zagreb, Crotaia in about 1860.
Mine's varied. On my German surname we can trace the family generation to generation back to the 1200's, and sketchily before that. We've got a crest and all (no money unfortunately!). On another side a direct ancestor was at Plymouth Colony, and was apparently kicked out for having a rowdy pub! 
Guess I know where I get my genes from!
Otherwise I can trace most of the family back to the 1800's in America, but we don't know much about them before that. They were from England, Scotland and Ireland, with some French too.

See i wish i could go back that far but im too lazy to check it out. Curse my laziness

1/2 Italian, from Lombardia and Veneto 1/4 Polish, from Krakow 1/8 English, in N. America since 1620 1/16 German, from Hesse 1/16 Irish, from County Cork
Father's side: southern Germany, around Nürnberg area if I recall correctly.
Mother's side: Finland, with the tree tops so lofty, and the mountains so tall.

France and Ireland ultimately I think on my dad's side... My mum's family all seem to be yokels from darkest Bedfordshire... I think my grandfather on my dad's side managed to get back to the 17th century, but all the info got lost when my gran went dollally... My mum is currently tracing her side of the family, but I don't think she's got any further than the early 1800s... There's a bit of seabird in there as well... :)

I'm Ukranian, but I can't trace my family past my great-grandmother, who came over from the Ukraine. So that's about as far back as 1900.
