it's easier if you have no income. :D

it usually takes me a couple of hours these days. aren't you a bit early? the financial year here at least runs for a couple more months yet, and even then i am lucky if i have it done by Halloween.

Ain't it, though. :D

My goal for the coming year is to generate lots of deductions, because those rat bastards are making me pay taxes despite my state of destitution. They think I'm a "business," you see. So this year, I'm going to start acting like a business. New computer, deduct. New car, deduct. Bigger apartment with office space, deduct. :thumb:

Deadline's at midnight-- 22 minutes. I did 'em in February, but when I realized I owed the bastards money, I set 'em aside until later. And later arrived today.

how can you owe them money with your level of income?

i always owe them a few hundred dollars in back taxes, bastards. i fear that this year it will be even more.

it seems i have become quite well to do.

i did mine last month and got my return back last week. $169 or something like that. since you can't do it by phone this year i did them online. not too much of a hassle.

I'd become accustomed to doing 'em by phone, but I must say I didn't miss tapping all of those numbers this year.

I was delighted when I found out that I only owed $600 instead of the &800 the previous two years.

I so resist to comment; mainly because I try not to use bad language. Had a really good year. Not so good now the bill has arrived - what's the point? Joke.

If I was an employee, they'd be sending me a load of money back. But because I'm a "business" (i.e., because I work as a contractor), "my business" owes a tax.

me thinks you need an accountant. doesn't your business employ you?

I suppose it does. I dunno. This time next year, there won't be any taxes owed. :thumb: :evil4:

The thing is, I'm not against taxes per se. I am against me paying taxes (yeah, yeah, so is everybody else, but this is different), because I'm living way below the poverty level, which means I shouldn't be paying any taxes at all. But because I'm a "business," here I am sending money off to the Government.

Stupid gits. :finger:

get an accountant. set your company up so, that you are employed by it. that way you should be able to get something back. alas it will be too late this year.

Can't afford an accountant, but you're right on every count.

My "company" is just me doing contract research and writing. My company doesn't own anything. Yet. I'm going on a fricking buying binge this year, and next tax season, I'll be swimming in tax deductions.

the computer for starters. claim depreciation on of say 20% a year. keep it for three years, and then get a new one. how about your car. put that in your company's name. you use it for business. then you can claim depreciation and running cost.

an you as a miserly employee of a company with litte income should also get a refund.

as i said get an accountant.

I don't have a computer. That's the first thing I'm going to rectify. I'm a business am I? Fine, then I'm buiyng a fricking computer, and you, Uncle Sam, can subsidize it. Motherfucker.

I don't have a car, either. But I'm a business, so it looks like Uncle Motherfucker can subsidize that purchase as well. :)

And so on.

I guess I can wite off my accountant as well. :) I don't have an accountant, but since I'm a "business," I guess I should let ol' Uncle Motherfucker susbsidize that for me as well. Oh, and I'll be needing health insurance, because, well, this ain't a civilized country, you know, where that's provided for you. But since I'm a "business," I'll just let the old asshole pay for it.

:) I feel better already. :thumb:

if hes poor, how would he afford an accountant?

comrade,

how long do they give you to pay the taxes?

They have to be mailed by tomorrow. I've already filed, so I won't get a penalty, but I'll have to make payment arrangements for the money owed. Although I'm going to look into Emmaroo's suggestion about amending it. :thumb:

yup you are getting the idea now.

also as a registered business there should be some way of paying less sales tax, or whatever you call it over there.

step one the accountant. that way everything is done the right way first time, then start buying stuff for your business.

why am i telling you all this. How long have you been a company?

As far as I know, that's only for items bought for resale.

Unfortunately we appear to be paying the taxes of the population hibernating in Monte Carlo (and all the other tax havens in this world).

Until we stop protesting with banners and marches and get together as a united world humanity, and act in a moral, legal peaceful and democratic way to put a stop to it, problems like the NHS funding crisis won't go away.
