They were allright when Lemmy was in them. He says:

'When I left Hawkwind, they got...Paul Rudolph to play bass. He used to be a great lead guitarist for The Pink Fairies, but he was a very, very mediocre bass player...Dave, God help him, actually wanted to bring me back...but the drum empire wouldn't let him...when I left Hawkwind, the cojones came with me.'

I only really like Silver Machine.

How can Lemmy call someone else mediocre, when from what I've seen, he comes across as pretty mediocre himself. He is mint though, and I have read his book. :thumb:

He could play a rickenbacker like strumming a banjo.....if yer da still has his lying around, try it, I TRIPPLE dare you :D

Lemmy's only a minor bass god beside Hooky, but a bass god no less.

And yes...old hawkwind and latter day hawkwind are too different bands....once all their songs stopped going fruntumpfruntumpfruntumpfruntump they got dull.

I've got a silver machine!!!!!!!

Hmmmmmmm.....whenever I've mentioned Lemmy to my dad he always says he is indeed a legend and all that, but he's not a great bassist.

oh he's no great player.....but he has unique talents is what I mean, like playing a Rick with a light touch. Man, I had to sit down with a Rick GUITAR on me ffs, and it stripped my skin. Could be worse...coulda been a gretch.

PS....any news?

Nah not heard from my dad's mate yet, he's not online. Just don't wanna go round shouting about it in case it turns out it fails. It did look pretty dodgy to me....I put faith in this guy so it better happen!!!

A lot of their more modern stuff is a bit gay to be honest. Their old tunes.... LOL...they vary from the uterly fucking rocking to the downright mentally disturbed (more than one track is just a Dr Who soundtrack with the singer talking world class bollox over it). Most of their rock out tunes sound rather distinctive, having that same incessant groove as Silver Machine.

Accurate assessment Diggy?

PS.. you don;t need to tell me about calling down the curse of Murray Walker from above. Every time I look forward to this weekend for 30secs, I spend about 3 hours freaking myself out about all the things that could go wrong (although in fairness the vast majprity of them already have) a simple pissup with a mate has turned into a mission to mars, or a quest for the grail or something.

f you hear of a plane ditching in the Irish sea on Thurs....you can have my bass :D
