I would go for Speaking In Tongues the delve in to the deeper stuff - Remain In Light, Talking Heads '77. Personally, I couldn't get into RIL but many other people call it genius.

How many albums DO you buy a week? I hope your number is much higher than mine. I've been a little out of control with that lately.

Seen David Byrne and regretted it. His take on some of the Heads classics was close to criminal. His songs I guess so he can do what he wants with them but the intro to Once In A Lifetime is one of the best openings you're ever likely to hear and he'd completely disfigured it when I saw him and the song just limped in, rather than crashed in.

Have to disagree. Seen David Byrne 8 times since the Rei Momo tour in 1989. I love what he does with the Talking Heads stuff. He does a different interpretation of the songs on every tour. You mabye just caught him on a bad one. First time I saw him he only did two (rather obscure) Heads songs in the whole set, Papa Legba and Mr Jones. There's been more and more creeping in with every tour though.

And lest we forget that a lot of his solo material is right up there with TH stuff. "Feelings" is a better album than anything Talking Heads did since "Remain In Light" and "Look Into The Eyeball" is also a belter.

And did you know that David Byrne is a Jock? Born in Dumbarton.

Speaking in tongues is fantastic followed by remain in light. Naked quite good- notably Johnny Marr's guitar work. Fantastic band -I wish I had seen them live

Tis a band i've never really listened to. I was at a Sophie Ellis-Bextor concert a couple of years ago and she did a cracking cover of Once in a Lifetime.

Speaking In Tongues is a classic,and i`ll put myself on record as saying Stop Making Sense is the best concert movie/album ever...

The reissues are fantastic. But why didn`t they give the Stop Making Sense album the 2 disc CD/DVD treatment?

reviewers are raving about a just released reissue of My Life in the Bush With Ghosts, an suppossed Eno and Byrne collaberation, as a breakthru that inspired all similar music made in the next decade... i didnt really hear the album back in the early 80s, but didn't Cabaret Voltaire do similar stuff at the same time? My Life Busg Ghosts has dated alot IMO.

personally i find David Byrne to be an vastly overrated songwriter/ performer. the best song off of the second record is a Al Green classic. the experimentialism of the Talking Heads (with Eno also) from the first 4-5 records are often very intersting but True Stories is well made pretentious crap... the band become second banana to Byrne's ego in the 80s

Another recommendation for you to get Speaking in Tongues next. Class album.
