Since there are quite a few Kraftwerk fans on this board, I was hoping you could advise me about getting another album of theirs.
I first got The Man Machine, but wasn't impressed by it. Don't know why, it just didn't grab me. But I picked up Trans Europe Express today, and I love it. Far more denser and tighter than The Man Machine.
What would be another good album of theirs to get?

The first record of theirs I bought was Electric Cafe. Still have it on vynil.
I highly recommend you get Computer World next

Minimum Maximum sort of suggests 'dedicated fans only need apply' to me, but probably will get it in time.

Must give it a go then. Is the Tour De France album worth getting, as I've heard mixed reports on it?
Tour De France Soundtracks? Not their best but some good tracks on it none the less. The only thing I find irritating about it is that the first 5 tracks are just variations on a theme - basically its one 20 minute track that gets a bit boring.
Computer World next would be my suggestion too.
And maybe give Electric Cafe a miss. Getting a hip producer to try and give them a NY club sound was a BIG mistake!!
I know who Kraftwerk is, Chris, the parentheses and the words in it are not necessary. I did listen to a few tracks, and they are class.
The Mix is my favourite, if only because of Radioactivity.
Also strongly recommend going to thier website to mess about with their robots etc.
Computer World is essential, I like Radioactivity as well, but Minimum Maximum gives you the best of all of them really in one double CD, and is fantastic sound quality.

Computer Love (from Computer World) spawned Talk by Coldplay - ffs its a great melody! - and its has Pocket Calculator which was the single. I think it dates to 1981 which you'd never know by listening to it. Radioactivity has good moments like the title and Ohm Sweet Ohm. I like Electric Cafe...Telephone Call has one of their great melodies even if they did 'Sister Ray' the end a bit too much. Boing boom tschak and Musique non stop have percussion almost as good as TEE. Minimum maximum is a live cd it should be noted, though on some of the tracks you'd never know. Tour de France is a waste of dosh imho and there are too many of those tracks on Max Min for my liking. The Mix is a must - the version of Radioactivity is a real stomper whereas that on Max Min isnt....

Tour de France Soundtracks was a big disappointment after a 15 year+ wait.
For someone who ain't a fan, get Mininmum Maximum.
It's basically THE greatest hits (the genuine greatest hits came out in 91 but missed off the likes of Numbers and the Model) all done in a modern stylee.
If you want a laugh, get Kraftwerk 1 or 2. Seventies prog rock on xylophones and flutes. Get down.

I would recommend THE MIX, as well as the ULTRA RARE TRAX 1 & 2 cd; can't go wrong with these cds.
Cheers for all the recommendations. Have seen parts of Minimum Maximum and I was impressed. I think that shall be my next purchase.
I have three or four of the albums thanks to El Jarvo, Computer World is ace. I still havnae pulled ma finger from my arse and got Minimum Maximum yet - but I will do eventually!!!!

Theres a german M-M? I might try to get that, some of the lyrics sound a bit awkward translated, like

Sort of lovable but it makes you wince. DVD version of The Robots, Man Machine, Computer World and Aerodynamik are fantastic, and I love the visuals for The Model.

...Keep the faith with the Man Machine though!
PS Almost all the Kraftwerk releases are available in German and lyrically they are often quite different especially The Model / Das Model.
Sorry to harp on about it but..MINIMUM MAXIMUM got me listening to Kraftwerk again.It's also restored my faith in seeing them live again.Saw them at Manchester Apollo on their MIX tour,they were great but there was no bloody bass! a mate of mine John shouted this observation out,and out of embarrassment I ducked!! But the guy on mixing desk played a blinder the rest of the gig. MIN/MAX is just the best live recording ever,from new stuff like Aerodynamik to old stuff like Autobahn. Their rendition of Musique Non Stop is worth the price of the CD alone. 2nd Choice COMPUTERWORLD for me this doesn't date,seeing as it was ahead of the curve back in '81! And 3rd yeah I'd go with THE MIX.
Having mentioned Computer World, I should say that I've been listening to Autobahn and Radioactivity almost continually the past few days...
