That's what I was thinking too, but I don't remember that line from Trainspotting, and this wasn't too long ago (<5 years)
Bear in mind that the original poster is American. The "thick Scottish accent" is probably in reality a thick Danish or Saudi Arabian accent :D

aye true enough.
It's "Scots accent" anyway surely?

I'm actually surprised the OP didn't refer to it as a thick "Scotch" accent. Cos that's where we're from, Scotchland. Capital city; Edinboro. Head of State; Mel Gibson.
This thread has been hijacked from someone asking about a movie to making fun of Americans, where are the moderators?

 Not nice, not all Americans are ignorant, Bush loving, NASCAR/American Idol nuts (albeit many are!)
At the very least I never mistakenly called Shug the "E" Word!! ![]()
That's right, Scotchland, in England.
While we're digressing slightly....class of Ni students VS class of US students. Teacher says "these guys are from ireland, Ireland is a small island of the westcoast of eurpoe....and they STILL couldn't find it until it was pointed right out.
(not as have as funny tho as arriving at a house party to see an ulster flag and a tricolour...one of your lots wiped his arse on the Ulster flag, followed by one of mine setting fire to the tricolour.....the seppos just didn't get it. they were also planning an Ireland in a week type tour...and were gonna be in Derry on the 12th of July, and were planing to be wearing I Heart Oireland t-shirts covered in shamrocks and triclolours......to my surprise I actually briefed them on their follie as opposed to simply heading up there with a camcorder).
Sorry....film....I looked up the script for 51st state and it is not that.... tho it DOES contain a refference to a drug and the line "the all died"

Not a hi-jack, more of an unauthorized hitch hike since the film remains under discussion ;)
Besides, making fun of Americans is OK outside the US, you can't lock everyone up for speaking the truth ;)

And yet, if you ask the same Europeans who decry ignorance in Americans something about the US that they can't answer, the response is almost always "I shouldn't have to know"
...
I'm sure you do not know the nuances of American rivalries that can get you killed. Oh, wait. It's all bloods and crips or suburbanites.
hypocrites much?
yes.

Not likely to run to our rescue, as one is prone to calling all Americans a great term of endearment...."Septics"... ![]()

Jesus, all this starting from an inquiry about a movie ![]()
Maybe I'll just stick to American movies that all of us simple Americans can handle....like counting the # of times Samuel L. Jackson drops the MF Bomb in his fine films ![]()
