He'll be ok, I reckon. At least he'll get an extra couple of weeks off.

Bad week for the FA all round.

the world cup is hosted by a country not a city, hence there will be matches in several german cities. correct me if i'm wrong, but the final will take place in berlin.

Rooney will be back for the world cup I promise.

Confirmed in todays news,Rooney has a broken foot. And Owen also in trouble after limping off after yesterdays match. Both look unlikely for Germany.

Manchester United said the 20-year-old broke the fourth metatarsal on his right foot when he was tackled during the match against Chelsea yesterday. He will be out of action for six weeks, according to the club - meaning he would be due to return on the day of England's first match against Paraguay.Advertisement your story continues belowA spokesman for Ladbrokes said they had lengthened the odds of England winning the tournament from 6-1 to 7-1 following the news.

As soon as I saw this happen during the game I texted Jarvo and JG to say "There goes yer only chance of winning the World Cup"

Ladbrokes have changed the odds to 7-1 without Rooney, I'd give ye's 100-1.

Gotta take him anyway. he'll be fit after 2 games or so, and we need him

We'll be able to get through the group stage without him, and some fucking Paraguayan meathead will probably have tried to do him during the group anyway under orders from their Argie paymaster, so hopefully he will be fit-ish by the 2nd round. Not match fit of course, but we probably wouldn't need 90 minutes out of him anyway.

The tournament would be worse without him, regardless of which country he plays for.

does this mean he won't be able to rob as many houses???

Well I for one am hoping England go out in the Semi's or lose the final.

I work for Gala, and we recently acquired the Coral Bookmaker's ( 1,300 odd shops )and the Euro bet Tellebetting businees.

If all 4 buisnesses, Casinos, Bingo, Bookmakers and the Internet make budget we will float.

The company shares will be nicely valued.

So every sentimental / patriotic £ will help the share price.

Personal Gain above National Pride everytime.

Up the Dutch !!

Sorry if I got city and country mixed up. I only got into the World Cup four years ago when Japan and Korea were hosting it.

If he wont be fit in time for the W/C will they shoot him?

Just another stroppy Red who can't control his girly temper. I'd leave him at home until he learns to control himself. No player's ability is enough to excuse he fact that risks injury and sending off in every game he plays, is it?

Didn't another big-headed Red blow a whole tournament for us once before? It will happen again if Rooney goes to Germany.

you may be right there,D

They should keep all big-headed reds out of the squad.

Why don't we just send the Chelsea squad? They're doing well at the moment.

Rooney is according to todays papers, sleeping in an oxygen tent a la michael jackson to speed up the healing process! Meanwhile across town... Fergie is saying Sven is chasing a "wild dream" if he thinks Roo will be fit for Germany-and he wont let him go if he thinks it`ll affect waynes future career or Uniteds.

The chances of England winning Germany 2006 are now about 1%!

its 82 (Keegan&Brooking) and 86 Robson all over again.

We fucked up on those two world cups, but I'd take him. fuck United and Fergie. take him regardless.

Taking Rooney away from that the squad they look a very average team. Even Lampard & Stevie G can't click when playing in the same team.

The Independent's got an interview with Nugent, who's back in the Preston squad six and a half weeks after doing the same toe.

His bone's fixed perfectly but that ain't the full picture. Sounds like the muscle on his leg's deteriorated in that short time, and of course his fitness/stamina ain't what it should be.

He certainly ain't gonna be in any way match fit for the group games, but I have a feeling that Sven will take him anyway, and maybe only bring him on in the group games as a sub if we are in a hole. Assuming we get through to the second round, he should have had a good fortnight extra recuperation and recovery then, and would be able to play at least some part, if just off the bench.
