Anyone else sick of the Dr Who promos on the Beeb?

Anyone else notice this? It's getting a bit much.

The BBC are so desperate to plug Dr Who these days we get a 3 minute promo after practically every BBC programme on practically every BBC outlet. They're overdoing it a bit aren't they? I mean I know it needs to be promoted but it's getting majorly irritating.

Don't get me wrong I like the show and all that; the new series is alright (not as good as last year's) but Tennant is already getting on my nerves as he plays the Doctor as an (may sound harsh) overexcited maniacal gimp. Eccleston was far better, a shame he jacked it in so soon, he could've easily managed another series or two without becoming irrevocably typecast.

Oooooo-eeeeeeeeee-ooooooooo K-9! Etc. shit there it goes again! :angry:

I hate them....desperate to avoid them as a matter of cat.

Frankly I do not WANT the audience of some other moron's program like EE starting to watch the Dr and writing in and saying "wouldn't it be better if everyone in Dr Who was a bitter twisted characature of a Londoner".

I didn't read your whole post before responding because if you slagged the Dr at all, I would have had to yell a lot.

I cant belive how many times the BBC has repeated the Chris Eccleston series already on UK Gold and BBC3.

I wouldn't say I'm a number one fan or anything but I'll watch it if it's on of an evening. I remember watching Sylvester McCoy's stint back in the late eighties.

The new show while quite good (last year's series was great) does have it's faults though. Firstly, Billie Piper isn't half as good as all these awards and plaudits would have us believe, she's basically playing herself which is no mean feat. Secondly, jury's still out on this new Doctor... Tennant needs to tone down his performance slightly and stop acting like he's basically pissed (as in alcohol) all the time, it's becoming irritating.

Only other gripe would be they're gearing the script and dialogue up for kids a bit too much, they need to make it a bit darker here and there rather than each episode ending each episode Rose and the Doctor skipping arm in arm into the Tardis grinning from ear to ear. Y'know what I mean?

Otherwise it's good to see a reasonable UK sci-fi show achieving some success.

Still sick of the sodding promos though.

I think that the new Dr.Who hits the spot. Yes it is a bit over hyped, but thats the modern way. My wife fancies the new Dr, whilst I fancy Billie - so we are both happy campers!

Must say I prefer Tennant to Eccleston.....but it's more to do with the costume than the actor. CE looked like a car thief not a gentleman.

DT is also a life long whovian, which should fit nicely with the fact that the guys making the new series are mostly fans, in fact many of them have been making Dr Who fan fiction, licensed and not, since Sly McCoy, hung up his boater.

the prmo's piss me off cos they will 1. attract spastics 2. annoy people and 3. spoil episodes for me if I don't hit the channel changer quick enough ( ditto on the stupid "next week" things on the closing credits)

I did actually :D Odd, I would have thought it more likely to hear JD/NO when Chris Eccleston was in the TARDIS, didn't he more or less beg to be in 24hpp?
