Inspirals are reforming for a apparent one off gig in Oldham next month.

No doubt they'll be more dates added.

Nightshift Ditto The Liverpool New Order gig..We get alot of holidays on our Rota shift patterns,but they still really fuck with your life!

I really like them. Only discover them 2 or 3 years ago.

Bought the double CD with a DVD (best of, rare of.....)Very good indeed.

I can only imagine its a warm up for a bigger tour. Seems a bit wierd going to all the hassle just for one gig.

The first band I ever saw were the Inspirals. Supporting The Wedding Present in 1988. They had a different lead singer back then. Hibster will probably know his name! (and shoe size).

I've never understood the appeal. Very much "also rans" when I was digging that kerrazy Madchester scene as a youth. It was the "big two" followed by a mild appreciation of The Charlatans and 808 State (who played one of the gigs of my life in the Barras in 1990. MC Tunes rocked it!!!)

Apparently, only a one-off to coincide with the World Cup - was stressed as the "ONLY" date this year in the "MooMail" that got sent round...

Tom Hingley left to form a band called 'The Rainkings' when he left the Inspirals.- (Stephen Holt if im not mistaken) T/ Hingleys first tour was the one early 89' supporting James - who (at the time) were promoting 'One Man Clapping' I think they also switched the bassist as well to that baldy bungle bloke. Personally i preferred the Inspirals early stuff on Playtime Rec. to the Cow/Moo! releases. Saw Tom Hingley (& the Lovers) in town (Darlo) last year and he said that the reformation was only meant to be a quickie to promote that 'current' best of cd. He said they would be getting their shit together again this year - How true

I can't really think of anything to say, other than that I was always very interested in the Inspirals and will make an effort to be there if they play live in the near future.

Don't really understand what happened to them after their recent reformation. Went to see them at Brixton, what, three or four years ago?! (Big group of us from here) and the place was absolutely MOBBED and you couldnae move for toffee. Great atmosphere, although I was never a fan in the day.

I've got that gig on DVD,Al. Is that the one where they had this kids' brass band or something come on stage with them? Got the pleasure of seeing them at the Manc Academy and The Apollo about then,storming set which included the Doves' "Pounding"! This has got to be my best year ever for gigs,NO,PSB,DM,John Foxx....erm Take That tomorrow

First time I saw them was back in 1989 at the ULU in London (their first London gig) - actually met them at a record shop signing just before the gig and asked "When's Planecrash coming out?" (which I later saw on the spine of "Move", if memory serves me correctly, although that was obviously a common question at the time)! :)

Class act - hope I get to see them again at some point (and that the Oldham gig isn't their last - don't think I'm going to be able to afford going up to that one)...

Seen em in the Mandela hall fuckin donkey's years ago, hardly remember the gig save to say that it was one of the most enjoyable I ever attended.

Me and me mate Iain wrote the exact same organ riff (and recorded it I might add) about 3 months before that came out...spooky moment....bit like NT on NO story saying NO trumped them on BM.

Can't see me making the gig tho, unless they DO tour and visit my little backwater.

Great band-I have seen them about 6 times and went to the gig at the Manchester GMEX in 1990,I think the support was The La's and ACR? Not 100% sure.
