Howard expected to play more for Everton Associated Press
LIVERPOOL, England -- American goalkeeper Tim Howard is being loaned from Manchester United to Everton next season.
Howard, one of three goalkeepers selected to the U.S. World Cup team, started 77 games over three seasons for Manchester after being transferred from the MetroStars of Major League Soccer. He had five shutouts, but lost his starting job to Dutch international goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar.
Howard's move to Everton, announced by both clubs Tuesday, should give him more playing time in the Premier League. Everton has Richard Wright on the roster, but Nigel Martyn is slow to recover from an ankle injury and may not receive a contract for next season.
