Howard expected to play more for Everton Associated Press

LIVERPOOL, England -- American goalkeeper Tim Howard is being loaned from Manchester United to Everton next season.

Howard, one of three goalkeepers selected to the U.S. World Cup team, started 77 games over three seasons for Manchester after being transferred from the MetroStars of Major League Soccer. He had five shutouts, but lost his starting job to Dutch international goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar.

Howard's move to Everton, announced by both clubs Tuesday, should give him more playing time in the Premier League. Everton has Richard Wright on the roster, but Nigel Martyn is slow to recover from an ankle injury and may not receive a contract for next season.

Bad news. Fuck all wrong with young Turner. Needs to concentrate on a new forward and a defence first.:banghead:

had to laugh at the Everton fans letters in the Echo last night i think. slagging off Moyes for keeping on Weir & Stubbs, and letting the Italian go, with Yobo possible going too. Moyes going for old age instead of youth. JOKE. One blue even suggested bringing back old bighead Joe Royle, to finish off the job he started years ago.JOKE soemone said who's next to go. Cahill, Arteta??

:rofl::rofl:

First priority (of course), is not to make redundant any players who have previously overcome potentially fatal diseases.

Secondly, Everton need an inside-forward (#10), who would provide the assists that Wayne Rooney is now doing for Man Utd. (You can see why Ericsson chose one of a 17-year-old over a 40-year-old in Sheringham to cover for Rooney, instead of a third #9 centre-forward like Darren Bent or Jermaine Defoe.)

Thirdly, have you noticed how many times the Everton starting XI now allow free shots from distance that end up in the net? Frank Lampard and Matt Holland are examples of those who've profitted several times. They need someone to replace Gravesen's presense (i.e. throwing bodies in the way of the ball at all costs).

Last season began and ended in August. Unfotunately, the staff we really need at Goodison - David Dean and all the directors at what is probably the best run boardroom in the country - aren't going to bring Thierry to Merseyside in the forseeable future.
