I'll tell why Doherty (who I've never heard anything by, btw) is #2: because he's in the news right now, and people have short-term memories. And they're stupid. :nonono:

And yes I'm pissed that I'm not on the list :banghead: :p

What about Micheal Stipe???

Was it actually entitled "heroes"? How were any of these guys "heroes"???? At least doesn't fit my definition.

the only real hero on the list, IMO. he pissed off berry gordy because he wanted to emphasize social change in his lyrics. and he has the best voice in the history of music. :)

How about Bob Marley also? He's not on the list, but he actually had alot to do with the revolution over there.

How is KC the number-one hero, exactly?

Sure, he made some decent music. But he married Courtney Hole...taking one for the team, freeing the rest of mankind from having to be with her. Okay, I take it back: he was a hero. :thumb:

Yeah, but he then killed himself, freeing her to the rest of mankind - heartless bugger!

Yes. At the time there was civil unrest there. I will correct myself as maybe it wasn't a full out civil war, but there was alot of bloodshed. Even he had an assaination attempt on his life. The civil unrest was also abit due to religon, and Marley was more or less leading the way with Rastafari.

during the time michael manley was PM. not a civil war, but you're right, lots of civil unrest.

i agree. i'd put bob marley in the list, as well. and i'd place him very high! (pun intended)

Which is appropriate, as today (May 11th) is Bob Marley Day - a national holiday in some countries of the world! :smoking:

Axl Rose? A hero for spending 15 years telling everyone he`s gonna release the greatest album ever? tosser. And as for PD at 2,the NME should be ashamed of themselves for putting someone who openly acts like being a baghead is ok,and his music is fucking shite too!

how can Richie Edwards be a hero. only made a few albums, then drove off a cliff or something.

The NME are complete wankers. always said it.

no sign of Jaz Coleman in there either. true brit Punk legend, who's been doin it for 25 years. mainly coz he emptied a bucket of maggots over their reception desk one day, yonks ago.

Or Geordie Walker. The best guitar player to emerge from post punk:bow:
