Now thats just deliberately pissing people off...
CLose run thing for me.
The 1997 team led by Dave Jones just sneak it.
How about Manchester City 1967 - 1969. The last team ever to win the league championship with 11 English players

one trophy in 2 years?
still, better than fuck all in 30 ![]()
Celtic '67 - 1st (coughs) British side to win the European Cup, and with 11 Scotsmen. Liverpool late 70's - mid '80's. AC Milan - Gullitt, Van Basten and Rijkkard. Brazil '70. Holland '74 France '84. Weat Brom 68.

I agree, not even the best United team in the '90's
'94 ![]()

Liverpool '76 - '84
7 League Titles. 4 European Cup. 1 UEFA Cup. 1 Super Cup. 4 League Cups. 4 Charity Shields.
None of this 'transision season' bollocks.
We were shite in the FA Cup though. ![]()
some joke options there Boat.
Liverpool 79 and Liverpool 84 & 87 are the three best we've ever had.
but globally, then Brazil 70 and Holland 74 are my two faves.
AC Milan were awesome in the late 80's when they murdered Real Madrid, are another great time.
and of course, the great Real Madrid team that beat Eintract Frankfurt in the European with Di Stefano and Puskas is another great team.

Can you explain how the word Hun is sectarian sunshine?

Didn't know there was a British national anthem.
I certainly don't boo the Flower of Scotland.
Keep it off this thread lads eh unless you've got owt decent or funny to add..were talking football here! Too many threads being locked down through pricks turning them nasty lately for my liking!
Don't get me wrong,I don't give a rats tits what you say to one an other,BUT I object to threads getting locked and this is heading that way so fucking stay off it if you don't want to talk footy,ok!

Semi-Agreed, but if 99% of The Boy's posts were aimed at the Boro (all antagonistically) like they are with Celtic, you'd want the right to reply as well. He just cannae see the word Celtic without having a snidey remark.
Getting back onto yer topic ![]()
Best team from the list above has to be the Brazilians from 1970. And Carlos Alberto's goal will always stand the test of time as being up there with the greatest, 8 of the 10 outfield players were involved in the build up and the goal was a screamer!

Shug,I'd like everyone on this thread to say whatever the hell they want..We are all men of the world when it comes to football, rivalries and all...You know the score. But the mods are pretty strict at times, even on football threads, thats all mate.![]()
I can't argue with Brazil 1970.But I can't belive I missed the liverpool 80's teams off the list.Best English team ever? I was always Dalglish in the park with me pals...Until I went to watch the Boro.I've been a Stuart Ripley man ever since that wonderful day!![]()
Can't help thinking that "The Boy" has accidentally dropped an H, not an E!
Anyway, back to the subject. Best team ever? Brazil 1970. Such style.
Hungary 1950s have to be up there, as do Ajax early 70s. For me though Milan 1989-94 played some great stuff, without being stereotypically "Italian".
And I'd go 93-94 as the best United team of the 90s. It would/could have one the treble bar UEFAs petty nationalist agenda.
Comparing national and club teams is as hard as comparing teams from different era's. However you can't leave Leeds United 1968 - 75, stacks of trophies cheated out of more.
One note on Celtic '67, don't think they can go down as one of the greatest teams of all time but considering where the players were from*, it was possibly the greatest achievements in football. Nice to see Middlesbrough going down the same local path.![]()
* and I don't mean because the were Scottish footballers.

6 trophies isn't a bad trophy hall. However between 77 and 84 Liverpool amassed an unsurpassed - 6 Titles, 4 European Cups, 4 league Cups and 1 FA cup.

In the same context when considering greatest achievements, given a club's resources...You'd have to put Cloughie's European Cup winning Forest side right up there too.
At Boro we have high hopes for the youngsters JT
Now reached the stage where we can put a squad of 16 out for a prem match if needs be,and they are young lads born within 30 miles of Middlesbrough...Steve Gibson's dream is hopefully coming to fruition over the next few years. The man is unique amongst Chairman! He says Boro will never be a PLC.Its all about the pursuit of sporting glory, and not making money. This allows a relativley small club to punch way above its weight..If nothing else,we have the greatest chairman of all time
Hurrah!:D
