ermm...I liked them for a couple of years...I had Love, Electric, and Sonic Temple...after that, I didn't bother with...
I didn't know they were still doing anything, as I thought Mr. Astbury had decided he WAS/IS Jim Morrisson???

I used to really like The Cult as well - but kind of got rather bemused with their evolution from red Indian navajo-rockers then pseudo-hippy goths to wild Led Zep metalheads then LA-obsessed stadium types.....inviting loads of ridicule and mass adulation in equal measures.
Then when they reverted back to the red-Indian stuff on "Ceremony" and finally split before Ian Astbury did the unthinkable and fulfilled his childhood ambition telling Matthew Kelly and the world that he WAS going to be Jim Morrison MKII in the Doors after all, I couldn't bother trying to fathom them out anymore.
Mind you, that singles album "Pure Cult" remains a great collection of them at their dashboard-thumping best though.....

The tour's been getting rave reviews, and Ian's on fiery form, so I say they would be.
I preferred the Electric-era and back Cult -before they went really bad metal (Sonic Temple). I remember walking out of one of their gigs on the Sonic Temple tour (LA show) out of complete boredome. Haven't followed since.
Where are they on musical map now?
