Welcome to Prudential of Omaha's "Wild Kingdom", I'm Merlin Olsen and this is my assistant Steve. Today we're in the wilds of middle America to see if we can track and capture a live "emo kid".

The emo is an elusive and mopey creature, prone to outbursts of self-pity that render it the most avoided predator in the animal kingdom. He can be counted on to gather herds around such fierce locales as local shopping malls, skateboard parks, and pizza parlors with varying degrees of greasiness. His natural prey? Teenage girls, but the emo rarely captures them. He prefers to scare them away with stories about his "abusive" parents.

Oh, Steve, hurry! We've just caught sight of an "emo"...you can tell by the bizarre hairdo that he's a fiercely whiny member of the species. Also, his "Fugazi" t-shirt tips off the observor of his taste in hardcore obscure bands that no one ever actually listens to...be careful, Steve!

Steve is going in for a closer look, which is always a bad idea if the emo has not eaten his requisite string cheese and is yearning to share his poetry with an unsuspecting victim...Steve is almost next to the emo, who, due to his self-involvement, doesn't notice others around him unless they are emos as well. They tend to gather in packs for protection from the fierce "jocks".

Steve is almost on the site and...oh no! The emo has spotted him, and is reaching for something in his back pocket! We can't seem to get the camera on it...oh my god, it's a notebook! Steve, get out of there! He's getting ready to quote some of his self-pity lyrics!

That was a close one, Steve is back at the compund and, apart from some flesh wounds, should be alright. The emo is not so lucky: following his close encounter with Steve, we called in the Air Force to neutralize the emo. We will contact his parents with the necessary info and his remains (a black sweater and a Scissor Sisters pin) as soon as possible.

Well, I believe in the power of 666 now...:nervous:

My car wouldn't start this morning, despite numerous attempts to crank it, and I had to bum my grandma's car to get to school. Then, as I'm driving to my usual parking space a little faster than I should...a cop car starts getting closer, lights blazing. I thought for sure he was after me, but as I made the turn to the Brooks Center he went past me. Either he was after someone else...or he's incredibly stupid and unable to execute a turn

Either way, I ain't leaving the house until the day is over  ...except to go check my work schedule this evening. Shit, forgot about that :banghead:

Congrats on your harrowing escape! Maybe he was actually after a real criminal for once. I wish I'd been as luck last November. 50 in a 35? Shit, that ain't speeding!

:nono: Don't encourage him. Next thing you know, he'll be coming 'round my place, swearing he left his latest screenplay behind, when what he really wants is for me to offer him a glass of shampanya so he can feign drunkeness before he throws himself at me.

The saga continues...this afternoon, I went with my brother to the local Advance Auto Parts to pick up a new battery. My brother proceeded to take the exit from the strip-mall location that goes out to a major highway...and almost got us killed when he pulled out in front of a speeding (and very pissed off) driver. I kept repeating "holy shit" until we were well clear of any danger :faint:

Then, to top that all off...the battery turned out not to be the problem. It's the starter that is the source of what ails my auto :banghead: (on the plus side, I won't have to worry about my battery for at least another year or two  )

And I'm not dead...:nervous:

So with any luck, I'll be able to get a new starter in my car tomorrow afternoon or evening. Until then, I'll either be driving my grandma or grandpa's car to school and work tomorrow (and to think, sometimes I complain that I live with my grandparents...still comes off like "female repellant" but at least I have the option of driving myself while I'm lonely)

Yeah, I've pissed away money on a false battery alarm before too. Mine was something much more expensive than an alternator, though I don't rememeber what it was now.
