I watched match point last night and i have to say it was fucking shit to say the least, the person who leant it to me said it was fantastic and one of the best films she'd ever seen.......
yeah right.
thats about the 6th or 7th woddy allen film i've punished myself with and i have to say apart from manhatten they've all been bollocks, i don't know why he's so highly regarded? would someone enlighten me please?

I quite enjoyed Sleeper when I first saw it aaaaaages ago. It's sort of Woody Allen does comedy sci-fi/Quantum Leap with lots of Bacofoil covering sets and props. To say it shows it's age these days is an understatement but it was made in 1973.
The bit with the Orgasmatron was pretty funny actually 
I can understand where you're coming from on alot of Allen's other films though; the majority of them didn't float my boat either when I first saw them.
Plus isn't he's married to his step-daughter or something dodgy like that? 
I like him a lot, and Match Point was much better than his more recent comedies, but it was still not much. I could hardly care less about a lot of silver-spoon fed elitists with marital troubles. Which is why a lot of his movies rub me the wrong way also. I've always been too skeptical of those elite New York intellectuals.
That said, his best film by far has to be Stardust Memories, even if the critics and most fans hated it.
