Just saw this film. With all the controversy Ken Loach is getting over his film about the Black and Tans: The Wind That Shakes the Barley, it's interesting to see his take on the Troubles.

Based on the 'Barn' tapes, which led to the Stalker Inquiry. Gets a bit daft towards the end with all the 'widescale' political coverups, but interesting nevertheless.

So what's his take?

The film shows how conspiracies work over here. An American civil rights lawyer is murdered for a tape which is politically devastating. The British blame it on the IRA. A soldier is used by the IRA and the British for their own ends.

ahh fuck the IRA.

I challenged a lad I worked with before we were to play footy for wearing an IRA top. I had to do it.

He turned around fully to me and I backed down.

He was wearin a top from the country his old fella was from.... IRAN :\ohwell:

When I was at Download, I ran into a Manc lad who, after discovering where I'm from, said 'I was in the city centre that day.'

I said 'I wasn't, so I don't give a fuck.'

Walked off after that, funnily enough.

TBH Steve, it's one of the better films about the troubles.
