Ironically, had a natter with Al about Stan on Saturday night.

Listened to a radio 4 interview with him today. Really interesting. Changed my perception of him totally. He was brutally honest.

He made some really valid points.

I've never bothered with him really- because I didn't see him as a person worth bothering about- but he's no different at all to any other player that have been surronded in issues in their careers. It appears that the public/ press seem to have been more forgiving to players such as Paul Merson or Paul Gascoigne (just an example).

Easy to form opinions about people you have not even met through, media/ gossip, and speculation, ain't it?

His autobiography is a cracking read from start to finish. The lad's upbringing was awful and he's constantly worried about turning into his dad which, of course, he eventually does. And then some. It's scandalous in parts though. Whilst we'd all love to know who he's sh&gged and what he's done to them, most people wouldn't detail those intimacies. He does though, which makes you think for all his purported eloquence and simply, supposedly, just being 'misunderstood' he is actually a bit of a low-life scumbag who just loves a good brag.

Oh, and there's a full, and very frank, chapter on dogging, natch.

As did Gazza and Merse!

Gazza is seen as a national hero, Merse always kept his place in the Villa side despite...........

That's the point i'm making.

His addiction was sex........... that's where he got his kicks.

He never hurt anyone by doing it, so is it any worse then being an alcohlic/ drug addict or gambler????

Just because it's sex and not something that we would choose to do?

i always thought he was a proper knob

maybe i should read his book or something see if it changes my mind

I'm not saying i think he's brilliant or anything........

I'm just saying that the reality is, there are loads of players that have been pretty shitty but don't get the same kind of response.

Will defo read his biography though, Al!

scored an awseome goal against Sheff Wed on his debut.

all downhill after that, apart from the first 4-3 game against Newcastle.

he's a weirdo loner, as God describes in his autobiog. never moved to liverpool, and travelled back and forth to Cannock each day. what an idiot. seen some of him on THE FARM. bit of a tit really.

i think people just liked Daft Gazza better, as with Merse.

Gazza=Twat Stan C=Twat Paul M=Twat I don't care about what they get up to in the bedroom or car park....Domestic violence is a serious issue and as far as I am concerned NOT something that can be forgiven.

What a bloody marvellous player though. Remember when he took a newly promoted Forest to 3rd place and the quarter finals of the UEFA cup.

Noone has said it is!

That's the whole point- why hold one person accountable and not others for the same?

I'm comparing peoples addictions as a reason people might see one worse than the other, when really it's all the same.

Coming from 7 years of abuse myself, I'm glad that i found it in me to forgive and stop hating eventually because it's a sad, lonely and bitter place to be. Doesn't make me weak and doesn't make what happened right, but it's allowed me to move on and I have never been so happy!

I wasn't suggesting that you thought it was. I was just voicing my opinion, as you can see I agree, they all should be seen as the same. I'm glad you have found yourself in a place where you have moved on and are happy.:thumb:

yup gotta agree with minx there, anyone who slaps their lass about is an arse no matter who it is or there so called profession. as for collymore his career can be likened to that of mick hucknall of simply red. in other words he started with blinding sucsess only to follow it with a series of lacklustre disapointment. a knob, book or no book.
