Justin Lee Collins - what the FUCK is this guy about???

Does anyone know who I'm talking about - he's becoming almost as ubiquitous on Channel 4 as that smug unfunny twat Jimmy Carr.

Justin looks like Jesus Christ - bearded hippy - but speaks in an irritatingly exciteable voice whose accent is either Cornish or Irish or just knobbish. He co presents a late night weekend show called Friday Night Project or summat.

God he's annoying: he's been doing narration for a few of those "top 50" run down programmes as well recently and I would have gladly watched those for curiosity value were it not for that gimp's irritating voice.

Anyone else want to give this guy a good kicking?

I agree! He annoys me as much as that guy from the Picture Loan Advert :banghead:

Agreed: West Country troll must die. And his camp goofy colleague can go with him, ta!

Phew! Thank god someone else has seen sense to deride this guy. Where the hell did he suddenly appear from? Did they discover him shouting at the pigeons in the Glasto Circus Arena for Hippies On Speed or summat? He's such a tosser!

Re: the voiceover for that advert you mention - I'm sure Collins has done a couple as well - the voice is too easy to recognise... bloody hell, I fear an absolute epidemic of his wondrous talent is about to inflict itself on us all soon.

I say give him a job presenting the Time Team - then that other regular Cornish yokel (Phil Hardy?) and Blackadder Robbo can then have something to REALLY get pissed off about - with any luck they'll take it in turns to all swing their digging implements into him and geo-fizz his remains! Come to think of it, he might even be the death of the series if that happened!

Him and Russell Brand make me want to machine gun the telly.

I downloaded Collins' show the other day after someone told me what a loser this guy is. haha I don't know what he's about really.

BTW, speaking of Jimmy Carr Distraction just made it over here. I seem to remember the show being better...I don't know if it's because 1) I remember the Channel 4 show being better than it actually was. 2) The US version is just not as funny. or 3) I've grown up a bit and just don't find him funny anymore.

Either way it was painful to watch..

Is it just me or does anyone else think that bloody Jimmy Carr looks just like Lloyd Cole back in the day? Albeit with even more satanic eyebrows.....

I saw that Bring Back the One Hit Wonders thingy - and didn't he do that Xmas programme where he tried to get the guy from Mud to join up with a few of the other old glam rockers to record a Christmas hit or summat? Well they were fun programmes but they were ruined by his stupid stupid annoying overexcited shouty voice. I mean, why the need to talk like that - makes me wanna strangle the bastard.

Don't watch much of that Friday Night Project cos as you said that camp guy gets on me nerves just as much - so the two of them should be banished for their crimes me thinks!

 :skeptic:

Alan Carr (jimmy carr's wife) not a very pleasant telly presence. just peddling more of the same camp cynical bitchy shite that we've excused as comedy for fear of appearing homophobic. paul o'grady with bad teeth and glasses (I'm not gayist - some of my favourite pieces of furniture are poofs). I can't watch Brand or JLC on telly, their personalities always outweigh the material but from what i know aside of that world, I've found myself warmed to them as human beings. channel 4 do this investment in talent thing with the tiniest group of comedy/presenter messiahs. alex zane is the latest name that appears ubiquitously on pitch documents.

As far as advert voices go, its the 'posh American' voice that does that advert that goes 'can hate be good' that drives me up the wall. I can't for the life of me remember what that ad is for, but it has cartoons of flying car engines. It's the most smug and self-satisfied voice I've ever heard, and crops up on several ads.

JLC is only mildly irritating, nothing like as bad as Jimmy Carr or Vernon Kaye (who for some reason to me appears so hideous I find it painful to look at him, as does his look-alike on Big Brother, yet the papers keep referring to the look-alike bloke as 'good looking', which baffles me)

Does anyone else here think that JLC speaks like Hibster?

C4 on a Froidee Noit (JLC speak) is utterly painful - what with Jimmy ugly Carr then Big Brother freakshow and then the aforementioned Friday Night project all in quick succession ! I dare say Beeb 2 is much better at the moment cos there's the small matter of lots of otherwise worthwile bands on one programme being introduced by an equally smug and irritating short-arse muso gimp who deserves to have his fingers hacked off!

Good god - bring back The Word - all is forgiven! :uhoh:   :evil4:

Thank God someone else on here hates that ad as much as I do! The worst thing about it is that once you see it, that ruddy song gets stuck in your head all day. Ban it, I say!

Funnily enough, I seem to have been oblivious to this advert. Guess I'm one of them lucky ones for whom ignorance is indeed bliss, perhaps? ;)

That voice belongs to the American writer and radio broadcaster Garrison Keillor. If you don't like his voice be careful when tuning around English language speech radio stations because he has a long-running show broadcast in various countries.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garrison_Keillor

However, he appears to be more talented than Justin Lee Collins. Then again, who isn't (unless being able to remember the 1980's qualifies as a talent)?

Ah! I've certainly heard of him as a writer, though never read anything of his. He may be a talented writer, but I'd be happier if he stuck to writing and gave up speaking.

I have finally managed to catch that infamous Honda advert some of you are talking about on the TV earlier this evening...... is it animated with some out-of-tune whistling bits in that song yeah?

I don't find it THAT annoying, I've seen far far worse though......in fact I've already forgotten how the tune goes - or even the whistling bit. :)
