So I found some Velvet Underground boxset today. Three live CDs, with the original line-up but Doug Yule on bass. I couldn't believe they had Sister Ray on all three CDs with track lengths of 24, 28 and 38 mins or something similar respectively. Thinking of buying it for £20 but never heard it. I can barely stand the studio version despite the awesome lyrics and playing it once acoustically drunk in a pub trying to read the lyric sheet.

On a related note, I bought a 5cd boxset with a peelable banana which seems quite good but have yet to play it. B-sides and live versions included and whatnot. Also has a VU version of ... of Love [can't remember how to spell the word beginning with S, drank 4 pints of cider already]. But yeah, should be good.

Don't know about the live box, but the Peel Slowly and See box is genius, all the albums, some great bonus stuff including an interesting disc of early demos and a very nice book... Worth spending some money and time on... Top banana!

That's 'cause you're too busy suckin' on my ding dong.

That sounds like the Bootleg Series Vol. 1: The (Robert) Quine Tapes.

Doug Yule was a fine addition to the band. Sure John Cale has the caché, the cool factor...but Yule more than holds his own on stage.

I said i c-c-couldn't hit sideways.

But anyway, I think it's "Satellite of Love" from Reed's Transformer album you're talking about. which is also worth getting, if you don't already have it. :thumb:

Decent sound on the Quine Tapes box, definitely on the lo-fi side, but I've never regretted buying it. Bit of a bummer that all three versions of Sister Ray won't fit on one disk, but ya can't have everything.

I thought you were gonna moan about someone stopping you on the street asking for the time...
