Thats all i need to know?
Answer me this: Grace is such a painfully average piece of work, and his cover of I Know Its Over is rubbish, so why does everyone think he is some kind of genius?
I disagree. The reason it is so good is the time it came out. It came out in 1994, and at that time nothing sounded like it. Since then (and about 6 years later) other bands started to sound similar to him. He was ahead of his time.
Agree that there are a few songs I skip over on the album. Plus his lyrics are more like poetry in their rhythm and stances.
Hope this helps in the explination.

I love his voice, it's got that quality to it that kinda stops time and takes you to a different place;
I don't Liston to him often but when I do it still sounds really good to me.
But wouldn't the world would be very boring if we all liked exactly the same stuff?

I admit that Jeff Buckley's "Grace" is one of my favorite cds.
It came out when grunge was in decline and there was a question of what would come next. I was wondering "Robert Plant? Van Morrison? Rock? Singer-songwriter? There was no one else like him.
Jeff Buckley's voice was an evocative instrument. He is one of those folks I can not describe quite why I like him-I just do...his cover of "Hallelujah" is one of my favorite songs
Over time, "Grace" is one of those cds that did not sell well at the time but has really stood up. A classic? maybe...bur defintely one of those cds I just return to again & again.
Only heard one song of his, "Last Goodbye" (I think that's the title) it was absolutely beautiful and haunting. He's on the short list of "artists I need to have represented in my collection" but have yet to do so (laziness or lack of money when I have run across his CD, mostly )

I'm sure you can pick it up pretty cheap nowadays.
People like Thom Yorke and Matt Bellamy have said that he made it allright to have high vocals, compared to some of the dull voices that most people were accustomed to at that time.
Never did it for me. Always seemed too close to James Blunt territory (I think he's a fan of Jeff.)
I bought this for £4.99 to see what all the fuss was about. There are about 2 decent songs on there, the rest of it is pretty boring.

I've played this album countless times as well, downloaded some other stuff, and...........it's alright is about the best I can say. I know preferences are personal, but even his cover of Hallelujah, though nice, still ranks behind the original and John Cale's take, which came a couple of years earlier. I've had a bit of a discussion of this with Agent Wood, who is a big fan of Jeff.
