Agree with the first two albums, but Elemental was great. Heard there newest one just released is really good. Haven't heard it yet though.

I had those first two albums of theirs and they were immensely enjoyable and spectacularly pretentious. The sound on parts of their debut album The Hurting remind me of Peter bloody Gabriel even!

Come to think of it, I do recall an advertisement for their tour in the paper, but don't remember any album reviews. I figured they were just touring, kind of like this new "We are the '80s" tour just to cash in on nostalgia.

The first two albums were pretty nifty, then the subsequent singles ("Sowing the Seeds of Love", "Break it Down Again", "New Star") were decent enough, but that's about how deep my interest goes

My main recollection is feeling slightly unnerved by their teeth. I bet they were bullies at school, they just seem the sort. That put me off as well.

I remember everyone getting terribly excited by their "comback" about six months after their previous release (that's not a comeback, eh kids! Their new stuff was basically low-rent Beatles rip-off. I'm sure it made it to the Nine O'Clock News. Once the excitement over the trippy promo had subsided, they went away again.

The cover of Mad World that was used in Donny Darco was BRILLIANT though. I listened to it over and over again before ripping the speakers off my computer and throwing them into the river that runs past my house.

Meh for me. Love Woman In Chains, actually bought the single, the rest I can listen to on the radio without the urge to change the channel.

I actually had pretty much forgotten about them, and thought... "oh... Tears for Fears... I wonder why somebody would bring them up..."

I'd actually put them somewhere between meh and highly, but that wasn't a choice, so I went with highly. Better than most of the crap nowadays, anyway. I guess I'd give them a 7 or 7.5 out of 10.

Love them. Great last album too. I managed to ctach their last gig from their tour at Caesar's in Tahoe last year...Roland Orzabal is one of the few lead singers whose voice sounds just as good live as it does in the studio. Always been a big fan of their lyrics...the "thinking man's" 80s music.

Big fan of their 80s stuff. Top notch. Even liked Seeds of Love... for a few songs anyway.

They kinda went downhill after that.
