Noisy F***ing Neighbours

Partly inspired by the "ranting" thread.....

So I eventually get moved into my new gaff a month ago after a whole bunch of hassle shifting my last place.

It's a modern flat, lovely cul-de-sac setting and really nice landscaped gardens all round it. Vey quiet which is exactly what I was looking for. I've got The Priory rehab clinic to one side of me and a Carmelite convent to the other!

The first Saturday night comes and I can hear the immediately recognisable drone of repetitive beats from the flat above me. The flat is the only one in the block to be rented. Not sure exactly who's up there but treckon it's two blokes and a burd. All early twentys.

I ignore it, modern flat and all that, poor soundproofing and head out to watch the World Cup. Home for midnight and the flat is silent. Wake up for a piss at 6AM and I can here the music again. Lie awake gettin angrier and angrier but bite my tongue.

Fast forward to the next Sat. Same sketch. The house music (ALWAYS FUCKING HOUSE MUSIC!) starts at about 7. Stops at 9 when they fuck off out. Has started again when I get up through th night for a piss (I piss about three times a night, fucked up, I know). Fortunately I get back to sleep. Wake up at 9, go to the gym, come back at half 10 AND THE FUCKING MUSIC IS STILL PLAYING

Try to read the papers and give up at 11.45 AM. Charge up the stairs and batter fuck out their door. After about 2 minutes (while they hide all the charlie and pills) two blokes, quite clearly off their fucking tits, answer the door. I start my rant keeping it pretty civil and avoiding any threats of violence. They couldnae be more understanding

"Sorry mate" "Thanks for letting us know mate" "Wont happen again mate"

Roughly translated this is

"Thanks fuck your not the cops mate who we assumed it was as we're all mad with it and the house is awash with Class A's"

I go downstairs. The music goes down about 2%. I get ready to go back up but as I'm hunting for my baseball bat it stops dead. At 12.15PM.

So what to do? This Sat was silent as I reckon there was nobody in the flat but there's been sporadic outbursts of house since then including a 7.30 til 8.30 AM blast this morning.

I'm a peaceful guy but I reckon in this situation the veiled threat of violence would work best. It needs nipped in the bud cos it's really beginning to get on my tits.

Deepest sympathy for yer, mate.Nothing worse than moving into a new pad and discovering you have noisy neighbours. When i first moved in here nearly 5 years ago the family next door were forever arguing and fighting.Luckily they have moved out now.Don't hear a thing from the current neighbours. You just gotta hope they move out sometime soon:\ohwell:

My neighbour's a cnut - I'll tell ya all about it when you've got a spare DAY to listen to it all. (And then you'd have to listen to it all over again 'cos I'd forget I'd told you...)

At the end of the day, my advice would be to keep your nose clean and let him fuck it up for himself. I won with my neighbour in the end, and he was the one who looked like a dick.

Play it by your own rules - don't stoop to his level.

Yer getting old G.

If it was a few years ago you would have been banging on the door fer an invite to test some of their gear

Seriously though, it's a cunt of a situation, as I'm sure you wouldnae want to phone the Polis, other than that, baseball bat their record player seems about the only solution.

I'm kinda glad there's no room for The Corby Order in October ;)

Baseball bat the c*nts nappers. From personal experience, it's the only language they understand.

Yep. Nice and reasonable doesn't usually work. You can tell whether the guy next door is at work or not here, by the language and yelling from his wife! Drives me potty........ Especially on a Sunday at 7am......!!! Then there's the guy 2 doors away, who insists on mowing his lawn on a Sunday early doors.......OR.....the guy 3 doors away that must have re-built his house by now, judging by the amount of noise................AND THEN THERE'S THE ONE..............

You could always go up there and lend them some good, non-house CDs to play :thumb:

Luckily,we have pensioners either side of us.Mrs BRF sometimes does the old lady next door,a Sunday's dinner...so its tickety-boo!We will be far more noisy for her probably...But she never mentions anything, and we're pretty friendly with both sides, but sometimes I blast music during the day:uhoh: Which I get earache off her in doors for, plus the odd lads back from the boozer type thing...But the tunes stay low in this case, and the walls are pretty thick.

Me, my (ex now, I guess) wifey and her friend lived in a two bedroom apt in Rochester for a few short months in late 2004...the upstairs neighbor blasted god awful death metal for hours on end, especially nights (even fookin' weeknights!). To make things worse, you could hear what sounded like gunfire (the cunt stomping around or moshing or whatever the fuck him and his butt-buddy were doing up there). I got the guts to go up there, they have a door with glass so ya can see in...there's this stupid wanker sitting on the couch, stoned/drunk out of his mind...later I go up, still pounding on the door with all my strength, and I see him completely oblivious to reality. The third time I ask him to turn his shit down...he is super nice and does so....so the sound volume DECREASES SLIGHTLY, NOT STOPS.

Did not stay there very long

I had this problem when staying in uni halls. A lad in the flat next to me used to play "Eye Of The Tiger" from the Rocky soundtrack really fucking loudly at all hours. I don't have proof but he was probably doing shadow boxing into his mirror at the same time, sad fuck. Once I banged on the wall at half 3 in the morning and got a muffled "What's that? Oh, it's that cunt next door eh!" through the wall but he continued playing.

In the end I just reported the fucker to the hall warden and it was dealt with pretty well. They probably said to him if we get anymore complaints you're out which shut him right up. I figured from the kind of neighbour he was he wasn't going to listen to a "Hey mate, couldn't do us a favour and keep the noise down in the early hours a bit? Cheers!" plea.

If it's happening every morning with these ecstasy casualties then I'd get Environmental Health on the phone and let them deal with it  It sounds wanky I know but the coppers don't deal with noise complaints anymore do they? It's this EH lot.

The neighbors who live in the house across from mine blast Spanish dance and rap music starting at 9 am. For the place I'm subletting for the summer as I intern, my window faces their house directly. And, I've never heard anyone over there speak English, so probably asking them to start the music later would be futile.

We're all feeling your pain!

Basically you've already reached the end of your tether - Environmental Health will either not work or take for ever(I know as I used to work for them!), being nice will never work, noise retaliation will never work as you will just piss yourself off more than the neighbours.

That really just leaves scareing the neighbours with threats of violence (but will empty threats work???), or moving.

I bet they must make a fair old noise "tutting" at the state of young people today when they want to!

My really cool neighbours have moved out and the house is empty.

The other side my neighbours are very quiet, and i thought they were weird, but it turns out they're just painfully shy and actually alright.

If i were to have a party, i would pre-warn the neighbours (and probably invite them anyway). I think everybody should be respectful of neighbours, but i must confess that i always sneakily crank the stereo up when i'm at other people's parties (Well it's never loud enough)

There's a few alternative options if I wanted to be particularly sly. As I said before, there's clearly a lot of Class A's floating about up there. My best mate is Drug Squad. Don't wanna go down that route but I will if I have to. Plus, the threat of it might be enough on it's own.

And bollocks to gettin Environment Health. Modern flat, poor soundproofing etc. Waste of time.

Thank fuck I'm only dealing with a pair of wee fannys though. I feel sorry for the folk with proper mentalists living next to them making lots of noise. If it was a big fella I wouldnae be as gung-ho in charging up the stairs!

i can relate so very much...... here on our left is a hardware,on our right is a parlor/mineral water outlet, infront is a videoke/karaoke bar. Makes you want to throw grenades to neighbours...your flat is better.....its like living in f_cking las vegas here on my end.....

You can always buy them a pair of bluethoot headphones... or pay for a carpet.

Some people really know how to annoy people and have no respect for their neighbour, that's for sure.

Decided to 'turn in early'; then the subject decided to increase the volume; have now been up an hour switched on tv and I am wide awake; mind you, I did see UB40 live singing Food for Thought; The Beat 'Hands off she's mine' and Aswad.........also learned something...at the end of Hands off she's mine; Dave Wakelin says...'Hands off, she's not mine..........that's the whole point'!

Huh???? HOw profound. Or ......something. No wonder Andy Cox and Dave Steel thought of the FYC! Just a pity they went on to form them then.........

Good job the neighbours woke me after all.........left the patio door unlocked.....ooooops!:nonono:
