Red Dragon better than Manhunter? I dont think so. Michael Mann is an excellent director (except Last Of The Mohicans)

That's a tough call, because on the one hand it's directed by Gilliam (the only American in Monty Python), but a predominantly British cast (with the notable exception of Robert DeNiro, Kim Griest, and I think Katherine Helmond). Filmed in Britain with a British crew...it's really up to your own view (I consider it British just because it's 1984 but with a wicked sense of humor)

I haven't seen a lot of foreign films (i.e., films from places other than the US or UK and in a different language), but of the ones I've seen:

Germany - Das Boot

Sweden - The Seventh Seal (I remember seeing it in a little independent theater years ago in the college town I went to first, I was sucked in from the first few minutes onward)

France - The Battle Of Algiers (saw this in Film lab, could've wrapped it up after the climatic scene in the hideaway but otherwise a good flick...might be considered Italian, though)

Russian - Battleship Potemkin (silent movie, of course, thus no Russian dialogue to sort through)

You're not Wrong, Michael Mann is a genius, and i think far too underated against the likes of Scorsese and Coppola speilberg and all the other top rated american directors

"STAND BY ME"" i also loved my ""TRUE ROMANCE "" video it wasnt by any means appropriate for a child, but my best friend and i looooved it...there was shite loads of violence we also loved ""RESIVIOR DOGS"" one of my fondest movies to talk about in front of other kids,,,the whole ear cutting off thing was awesome dude. i loved ""THE SHAWSHANK REDEMTION"" ""K-PAX :: yeah kevin spacy rules!!! we love I.T too anything steven king!!! i liked 'GARDEN STATE' (that dude from scrubs) :p
