Great movie. Saw it on DVD last night.

For you who don't know about it, it's about some marines preparing to go down to Iraq as snipers, after Saddam invaded Kuwait.

Same actor as in Donnie Darko. Can't remember his name though.

Jake Gyllenhaal. He's also in Brokeback Mountain..not that there's anything wrong with that.

Agreed on that. Fucking shit, oil over your face and body.

When I saw the film I kept hearing NO's "I Told You So" over and over in my head. The beat and the run of lyrics seemed to mesh somehow. Good acting and enough dark humor to keep me interested. Loved the end of skirmish pseudo-rave, too!

Saw the movie with a bunch of my Marines. Have to say we weren't that impressed. Seemed to be written by a guy that was a bit disgruntled towards the Corps. Some of the stuff was good. and stuff that happens when your in the field.

Always interesting to hear what a real marine thinks. Apparently it was based on a book written be a marine who served in Desert Storm. Did you read it? I'm wondering if his book was fanciful, or if Hollywood simply screwed up his book (more likely).

The book is far superior to the film.:read:

The end bit where they are in the tower and his mate doesn't get to shoot the guy in the tower was drastically changed for the film

I do like the film though:thumb:

Oh well. Not too often that a film measures up to the bok. As long as they don't screw it up too much, it's ok.

As a Seabee some of that stuff was right on from what i've seen close up and personal. Some of it, as Pontiac said, was written by a guy with a chip on his shoulder.
