WHAT THE FCUK!

There are flags appearing against our names in Forums!

I'm happy to have the X of St George next to my name, but having the Union flag ain't on!

(Although it's quite funny to see Shug with the Union flag!) :eek3:

I guess Shug can always change his location on his profile to the Republic or summat though. I can't choose an option for 'Engerland' cos it's United Kingdown or nowt.

Nicos, sort it aaart! :nono:

Just noticed this myself.

A better idea would have been yer teams football crest :thumb:

Nicos is gonna come in for some grief

It wouldnae be too bad if you could pick England, Scotland, Ireland or Wales, but me with a Union Jack?

I am not bald and I'm not right wing and I don't worship the Royal Family.

So why are you complaining Al? :spit:

Shug wrote: I am not bald and I'm not right wing and I don't worship the Royal Family.

Well, I'm not the latter two ... hence my new flag! Er, actually, no they're certainly right wing.

Not that you'd recognise it, Shug!

how come we got these flag things now?

Most people have their location under their name when they've posted, so for the most part, you can tell what country they're from...so I think it's a bit unnecessary. Unless geographic illiteracy is rampant on here...:read:

St Vincent and The Grenadines.

Did you know that The British, who claimed Carib land by royal grants, were more despised by the Caribs than the French who were permitted to set up settlements in the early 1700’s.

I guess some people would like to have the Scottish, England and Wales flags then?

To be honest, it's always been there, just never worked... when I corrected a bug yesterday, it fixed it.

It is so annoying? I find it useful... and not intrusive.

However I can always put it off with an option if you don't want to see it.

Could also move it next to the location.

i do quite enjoy them to be honest :hat:

think most brits would rather have their individual nation flags rather than the union flag if possible...

Quite like the Union Jack, I have to say. There's something classy about it (whereas the Stars and Stripes just kinda seems thrown together..."hey, cousin Billy Joe made him a flag!" :toothless: )

I will try to add one for England, Scotland and Wales.. does Northern Ireland has a flag of its own too? I guess so.

Going to Wikipedia...

I did split them all at the beginning of this website, people some people complained

So I'll add simply 5 picks.. one being UK...

Ok, I added the 4 kingdoms.. you should see them at the bottom of the list of country.

I also added Quebec, to shut Sebastien up :p

Still talking about flags, have you heard about the guy who graded the flags of the world? His website is hilarius.

I think it's quite amusing to live in the independent nation with the worst flag.

i think i've worked out my problem with this flag thingy. I represent myself here and not Australia, so I'd rather not have a flag against my name.

In the old South Africa there used to be an official "flag song" that was sung at ceremonies etc - anybody know of another country that has something similar?

Yes. Besides the national anthem, Brazil has a "flag anthem" and an "independence anthem" too.

I suppose you could say the US National Anthem is pretty much a "flag song" of sorts(The Star-Spangled Banner).

Scrap it then - nobody wants the fookin' flags anyway! They serve no purpose after all, it doesn't matter where someone comes from. The only thing that matters is that they are also strangely fond of this Mancunian ensemble that make good records!

I agree. As I've posted earlier, it's already possible to determine what country a poster is from by their location, so I think the flags are unnecessary.:read:

Don't worry, this guy is an idiot anyway. This idiot gave Libya a B. Libya's flag is nothing but fucking green! I could have come up with that!
He rates Liberia's flag higher than the US, even though it is an exact duplicate except for having one star instead of 50 (one for each US state). This is one person with too much time on his hands. Actually, I kinda like Brazil's flag.
He gave Bhutan a D+, and they have a dragon. What's cooler than a dragon?! I also like some of the African flags with the spear & shield. Maybe I'm the idiot for spending more than 30 seconds looking at that website.

any purely red flags out there in the World of Flags. with a touch of white maybe. me wants to change mine. keeps reminding me of the silver jubilee.

there is only one flag that is one colour - & that's all green

predominantly red you can choose denmark (red with white cross) or maybe indonesia/ poland which are half & half red & white

Simple, understated, no history of having the Confederate flag attached to it at any point (unlike our idiot neighbors to the south, Georgia)

Seeing as everyone's arguing states' rights, might as well highlight the flag of the place where it all started

Nice flag, though it looks like it belongs to the United Arab Emirates, what with the crescent moon and palm tree. All it lacks is the green background instead of blue.

It's an oak... The so called "Hilgenbaum" where the old Germanic dudes did their court and law stuff...

And later travellers used it as a kind of blackboard, by putting little papers with written messages on it, to communicate.

So it's actually a little similar to the New York state flag, which has Justice on the right side, embodied as a chick rather than a tree. Hilgen means oak then?

Well err I found two possibilities of interptretation: 1.) the messages the people put on the tree were callen "Hilgen" or 2.) the tree was originally called heiliger (holy) tree, which was transformed to "hilgen" later
