What kind of tree is that? Looks like a Charlie Brown tree. :evil4:

I've notice a lot of Central Eurpopean flags have the red and white checkered thing going on. Is there some sort of significance to that?

It's an oak... The so called "Hilgenbaum" where the old Germanic dudes did their court and law stuff...

So it's actually a little similar to the New York state flag, which has Justice on the right side, embodied as a chick rather than a tree. Hilgen means oak then?

No Eiche is oak... Hilgen is an older word for something I have to look up first... :uhoh:

Well err I found two possibilities of interptretation: 1.) the messages the people put on the tree were callen "Hilgen" or 2.) the tree was originally called heiliger (holy) tree, which was transformed to "hilgen" later

You're welcome. And if I'm ever in Bochum, or wherever it is you're from, I will astound them with my knowledge of their flag. Assuming they speak English, that it.

I'm fine with the flag that I have right now. Nice change, btw Spotnick. :thumb:

not sure what it would be...perhaps a map of the underground?

This is the official flag of the City of London, apparently.

Hmmm, the City of London of course isn't really the same as 'London' I think (is there a flag for the City of Westminister?). But it'll do.

Still, not sure about being lumped in with all those North Londoners. The land north of the Westway is an strange alien country of which I know little. I need a South London flag.

Nice use of orange on your one... Whilst ours makes use of yellow and red!

Kind of makes it seem like some Caribbean island, doesn't it?

Herts doesn't seem to have a flag...
