I had thought this was going to be a serious thread (should have known better), was gonna say I went to the library about 5 years ago to check out some work related books. Prior to that I hadn't been to the public library in about 20 years. But since this thread doesn't have anything to do with that, I guess I won't. Hey wait, I guess I just did! Oh well.

Our library is very nice. No kevlar vests required. :)

There was a Seinfeld episode where the library came after him for a book he'd checked out 20 years ago. The fine was something like 50 dollars ( I think the fines max out after a certain amount of time), but as that is fiction, I wouldn't come clean if I were you.

No, not as a rule. But I have been to my local library intermittently in the past 10 years when I've had stuff to work on and needed some peace and quiet.

The seated area in my local library is right opposite this little lady's front door! I kid you not.

it is if you want it to be.

don't mind me.

Not since Conan the Librarian stalked me to pay my late fees. Avoid the place. Drop off the kids and burn rubber.

Conan, what is best in life?

To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women!

Funny you say that. My dad used to ask me that at random times, if I screwed it up I had a chore to do.

I go to the library often. I like to read and I'm cheap so it is perfect for me. However, it seems that I always owe a fine.

I used to go all the time before I had a home computer, but lately I tend to go once a month at the most.

Plus, some of the people who work there frighten me a little :nervous:

I visit my local library quite often, especially since they've built a new one recently.

I only seem to go to the library when I'm having computer problems and I want to access the internet. Other times I go for photocopies, newspapers, magazines or videos. I can't remember the last time I actually checked a book out of the city library. When I was taking a night course at the local college two years ago, I took a look at their library only to discover that they had moved it into an old classroom and there were barely any books left. It was down to about a fifth of what it used to be just ten years ago. They turned the old library into a large computer lab. Blame it on the internet.

Not since I was a kid. It's a shame really, but it is that effort of having to make the trip on a weekend, cos' you don't work anywhere near you live. I would always miss the due back date!

There are good libraries in the City of London, should join them I suppose - the chance to try books without making expensive mistakes.
