Bad day at work... — Forum Archive

I had a bad news today when I was at work.. one of my co-workers had a motorcycle accident on his way to work this morning and is currently in a coma, and apparently his brain is damaged.

That can never be good.

Troubling news, but people riding motorcycle really face that everyday and they know it.

The news didn't look good and they didn't have much news... I fear to go to work tomorrow and hear the worst I must say, this would simply be horrible..

Oh well, what can we say, apart from let's enjoy life while it lasts.. it's short and precious...

The cost of gasoline has me thinking of driving a motorcycle, since I drive 140 miles a day. The fact that I have to count on the ability of others to drive has kept me away.

Sad thing is that I've known a couple guys that were seasoned riders, like 30 years of riding and such, and they had their end by idiotic drivers in thier own selfish worlds worried only by what they are talking about on their cell phones.

not to sound contrite, but at least it took a motorcycle accident to cause brain damage...

it appears most of my co-workers come by it naturally!

Have you seen the Motorcycle Diaries? They fall off that thing about every five minutes.

My mate wanted to get a bike (he's had one before) but his wife, who's a nurse, made him visit the orthapedic ward at her hospital.

He's got a Honda Accord now.

I always remember so many of my mates when they were 15 and 16, starting saving up so they could get a cheap bike, just so they could get out of town and be free.

I only ever went on one once, and managed to crash it into a park bench on the local riverfront. My girlfriend at the time was riding pillion, and was thrown off. I've not been on a bike since.

Ditto. Sort of. I've not been on a bike since the day before my 17th birthday. Sat in a supermarket car-park. Revved it up a bit too hard and went flying into a concrete rubbish bin about 6ft away. A proper immovable concrete rubbish bin. Went straight over the top and landed all my weight on my left shoulder. Dislocated it so badly they referred to it as a wrench and it never healed properly and would literally drop out at the most inopportune moments over the next few years till I finally had it pinned when I was 21. Now boast a six-inch scar round said shoulder which I generally like to pretend was me fending off a machete attack. Er, but it wasn't.

When we were about 15-16 a mate of my bro lost control of his bike and completely demolished our neighbours front wall :laugh: The bloke came out of his house and just said he had been meaning to have it knocked down and replaced anyway.

at the very least... people who ride get such joy out of it that at least if they meet their end on it.. they met it while having fun and doing something they love

Tough news. . Best wishes for somesort of a successful recovery. Somehow there is a spark, light of hope that things can sort out with a bit of Time..

Older brother had a motorbike for a season. But the risks are very high and so he sold it. Good luckfor you there.

Yeah, I'm fine... but I had to take the rest of the day off to get this out of my mind too much.

I think a few painful days are to come, tomorrow where they will announce us for the funerals, and I just can't believe how weird will be the day a new person will be hired to fill in.. that will be weird.

But hey, that's life, we all know that.. sucks and there is nothing we can't do about it. We just need to enjoy it as much as we can.
