Which browser do you use?

I started using Firefox several months ago mostly for security reasons. Other than that, Firefox has its pros and cons and I was wondering what other people around here are using.

I've used Firefox for a while and think it loads webpages a bit faster. Opening linked media files is not so easy as in Explorer though.

i'm very pleased with opera. it's easy to use and i love the tab system. the only problem is that some sites seem to be 'made' just for IE, which is a pain in the ass. in this case i just switch to IE for a moment, then switch back.

i can't think of single problem i have ever had with firefox not displaying a page right. maybe the whole world is wrong and i am igornant.

A perfect example would be to go to the discography and selecting just about any release. Try checking it out in IE to see what it should really look like.

I LOVE opera, so fast, so easy, and so friendly.

Occasionally some pages display wrong, but then, since opera is the only browser endorsed by the W3C ( the people who set internet standards), it's the PAGE that is wrong....probably done in front page or some other cancer inducing pile of puss that pukes out invalid html that only Internet Exploder can process with it's doolally incompatible rendering engine.

My only opera issues at the moment are that it hates the NOOL chatroom, running it very slowly ( so firefox steps in for that), and for youtube and google video do not wrk in the Linux version because Microsoft pay macromedia money to delay linux versions of flash.

I bet you a tenner, that if you take any page that renders "right" in IE but not other browsers, to the W3C validation page, you will be told anything from "this page contains invalid code" to "this page is so mangled I'm not even sure which protocol to verify it against"

In fact if you look at the report on the discography page, you will see it contains no fewer than 277 examples of invalid, rancid, or worse...microsoft, code.

I smell Front Page or dreamweaver since I doubt spotty could screw up that well on his own.

Looking at the validator's results, it would seem that most errors are for missing apostrophes and brackets. Microsoft usually gives me negative vibes but it would seem that IE is fairly intuitive.

Just regular Internet Explorer.

I can't live without mouse gestures for one thing, doubtless MS will embrace and extend [1]those in about IE V12.7

And opera holds forms better.....so if you meet the "NOOL post vanishing bug", you can hit back and post it again instead of just letting all your lovely shite talking just vanish into the great bit bucket in the sky. ( no doubt a few folks round here wish I WERE using I-exploder)

I'm sure there are better browsers out there.

anyone use regular mozilla? i had it for a while and was pretty content, but i missed my opera too much so i switched back.

I use Firefox and I'm pretty damn happy with it! The only problem I can think of is that, now, I have to endure my antispyware program constant complaining: ever since I dumped f*****g IE, poor old Spyware Terminator has nothing to do!

By the way... Please bear with me for a while, you all know I'm the dumbest guy around, but what exactly is this "tabbing" business you're all talking about?

Try right clicking a link and select the second option. It should be "Open Link in New Tab". You'll see the two tabs on your left a little below the address bar. To close the tab, click the red box with the x near the right edge of your screen.

Firefox here and at work, I'm the only one who does there. I have no idea why they still do though. I've yet to come across any pages that look odd in Firefox though.

Yes, I use Thunderbird, I don't miss using Outhouse Express at all. Only problem I've had with TB was that recently it was showing that I had, for example, 40 messages in my Inbox on the summary message at the bottom, when in actuality I'd deleted most of them and only had 15 or so in the inbox. Quick search of the newsgroup led me to the solution of going into my profile manager and deleting a bunch of *.msf files.

Safari at home but IE at work. IE is horrible. Maybe its a corporate standard to minimize internet usage.

I take it you have a Mac at home or is there also a Windows version of Safari?

I started to browse with IE and I still use IE 6 or 7 (now). I had several problems but the only reason I didn't change it was that 80% or 90% of the users still use it. I went with the crowd. My web site (online store) was design for IE and I never checked how it looks in an other browser.

Í am an open mind person and I want any revenue I can get from the net, but the statistics are very clear:

Microsoft Internet Explorer 1,232,809 81.92% Netscape Navigator (same sht) 230,282 15.30% Others (Firefox etc) 38,223 2.53% Netscape Compatible 3,332 0.22% WebTV 194 0.01%

BUT: In the next months (I hope) I will get over with it and get the Firefox cos it's the right tool.

PS. I am still using DOS for my "binary" programs and am using the ftp.exe command for uploading to my server.

FF most of the time, IE for checking compatiability on sites I run. The best extension on FF that I use religiously aside from gestures is that darn Session Saver! Everloving glory for that invention, because I like being able to keep things going even after an unexpected power down.

AdBlock's nice as well, and the accuweather monitor is nice for keeping up on the weather around here (you know the old "wait a minute, it'll change" thing) and a handy video downloader for all those nifty things people find on youtube/google/etc.

I'll give IE7 a whirl sometime soon, as well as the Vista OS. Right now, I just don't think my barebox could handle such an upset.

When IE7 comes out, a lot of Firefox users may wind up switching back as long as security concerns are dealt with better. Then again, hackers will probably always target Microsoft. I just hate the way Microsoft waits so long to admit something is wrong and come out with a fix even if it is ahead of its planned schedule.

exciting thread

i just downloaded IE7 and it looks pretty good. it has tabbing and a lot of the other functions opera and firefox have. about damn time microsoft caught up with the rest of the world.

p.s. i'm writing this on opera. i'll have to test IE7 a bit more before i really trust it.

Mostly used Internet Explorer. I have used Firefox....really starting to look into Linux Operating Systems...I think maybe some of these browsers are used on a Linux OS....not sure....
