Nitzer Ebb in Oz

Hi NOOLers. I'm sure there are a few Order fans who also cross over into the industrial side of things, right...

Of all bands, the mighty Nitzer Ebb are hitting our shores in a couple of weeks - here in Brisbane on September 6 at the Arena. Sydney and Melbourne thereafter.

I'm particularly excited because Pure Bunk and a new Dogmachine offshoot (this will be mainly relevent to locals) are in support.

Do Nitzer Ebb still actually play live?

Since Orbital broke up and New Order took to miming, I've been missing live mchines quite badly.

Only ever bought one record by them,a 12" called Join In The Chant. It was quite a big house track in the north west of england in about 1990. To be honest,i thought that was all they`d done!

Oh no - there's so much more. They were active from 1984 to 1995, with their highlight's being around 1989 with their Belief album and the singles Control, Shame, and Hearts & Minds. They took the baton from Cabaret Voltaire, and shared the same space as Front 242 and (to a degree) Frontline Assembly.

They've just released a double-compilation (2nd CD full of seminal remixes from the period, including some of William Orbit's best stuff before he got all full of himself) of their best stuff on Mute - along with a remix CD on Novamute. Well worth checking out. Very important band in the development of electronic music, and one of the leading influences in the industrial/EBM space.

The 12" i was on about is remixed by that Front 242 you`ve mentioned.

just brought back 'Fun To Be Had' moment! what great MOMENT that was! :D

I have the lp that Chant is on. They had a prior or post lp with NOish/Saville style art work. If they were near I'd go see them.

i have the album control is on didnt like it didnt like anything else they did either prefer other bands mentioned Cabaret Voltaire, Front 242, Frontline Assembly
