Was in Tescos at lunchtime and their was a young indie clone girl with obligatry designer haircut. She was wearing a studded "Love Wil Tear Us Apart" belt. And she was reading f****n Heat magazine or somesuch celebrity nonsense mag

For some reason this really annoyed me.Did this sum up what the song has become now? just a fashion accesory?

Then again most thing annoy me in Tescos if i have to go in there on my lunch break.

Its just the song reduced to fashion statement that grates a little.

Ah well ,nevermind eh?

i think it has been reduced to fashion by those annoying 'indie clones'.
LWTUA is a fuckin good tune, and probably the most accessible JD song. It is the only song these kids will know by Joy Division, and i bet that a good proportion of them wouldn't rate most the stuff on the 2 studio albums

Just angers me really

Deep breaths Johnny :D

Nah, I know what you mean though... infuriating to see people superficially latching onto JD/NO especially 15 year old goths who (after a quick read of an NME Ian Curtis special) claim to "know and share his pain".

They need a swift kick in the bollocks that lot.

I suppose any publicity is good publicity... It's not wrong to be angry, J, but it's really not worth getting worked up about... :D

Yeah i've calmed down now.Maybe i was just havin a bad day at work coupled with having to fight my way through the TESCO masses on my lunchbreak.Ordering my groceries etc. online and having them delivered (which i tried for the first time recently and thoroughly reccomend )is the way forward for me:nod:

Uh oh, this thread is turning into a Tesco thread.Lock it now

I've seen those knobheads with the ones with the rips in and the stupid sparkly bits on :nono:

Far worse than a simple LWTUA belt on a teenager.

You didn't get a picture did you?

I think this is the key.

I saw a similar girl with an Unknown Pleasures t-shirt last year. I was on my way to the pub and I was in a good mood and I actually thought about stopping her and introducing myself as a NO fan.

But then remembering that it doesn't matter how they're dressed, teenage girls are rarely impressed by 30 year-old, balding men wearing jeans.

I remember getting realy fucking annoyed at seeing Tamara Palmer wotsherface wearing a bright green skinny-fit Ramones T-shirt.The only other time i've seen the work shy cow was when she was dancing to a Rick(no talent)Astley record.

Still live and let live!

Eh, I get annoyed too. I seem to only be annoyed by the blatently "accessorized" things as opposed to your standard band shirt on a kid. Things like pre-ripped sparkly "Joy Division" things that one might buy at a goth-y merchandise store. I remember seeing an article about the belt a while back, and just rolled my eyes.

 I just hope the fad passes quick, because I'm tired of having a conversation with someone wearing just an "accessory" and them having no clue about the bands they are wearing.

All we need to do is add studs saying 'C'mon!!!' to the belt and voila! a perfect Christmas gift for Barney!

No, of course it's not wrong! You can bet that the band doesn't see a penny of royalty! You should have ripped the belt off the bitch and track down who made it so the record company can hire high-priced lawyers to sue the manufacturers for the pence they owe the band.

Oh, but this really had nothing to do with money and artistic property just principle and good taste. Forget it then, I'm full of crap! I'm just gonna put on my Ray-Tan shades and my Like sneakers and go for a walk to calm down.

The bidding is up to 35 pounds. Maybe they really ought to sue for royalties.

mmm i reckon you should always keep the look humble, sure a band top if your a huge fan-only-basis (not that this would have been the case.) no makeup, no cool attitude, no cool haircut,no pretentious music upity, oooh shite sounds like me all the humble uncool shit. he he.

i hope johnny didnt give the girl the EVIL EYE, you did... didnt you!

the coolest hair do i have is a whispy fringe, cut by my artistry, and my own blunt snips from the kitchen drawer.

by the way EIMI, i like your new comment signature thing its wonderful!
