Its a bit late wishing him good luck now , when the exams were over two months ago, they were marked six weeks ago, and have been sitting in an envelope for a fortnight waiting to be picked up.
And lets face it, you'd have to be a complete fucking doofus not to get good grades. The english education system, harder to fail than to pass.

I'll tell you what though. I didn't half have nightmares over Differential Calculus. Prob and Trig not too bad. but fuckin Calculus. whoaaaa!!!
Just checked out my German group's grades, not too bad - 7 Bs, 6 Cs and 3 Ds, but if the lazy fcukers had actually done some work, then who knows...

God, I'll be going through this around Christmas time. My daughter has her final exams in November and wants to go to Uni. A stressful time for all :\ohwell:

Showing your age, calculus is no longer on GCSE's nor logarithms, trig done on calculators so no log tables, trig only uses whole number values for degrees so minutes are unknown to current GCSE students.
As with any students, I hope you get what you deserve. :)

GCSEs are a joke. i got my results last year and got a B in maths without even revising. Saying that though, not revising didnt work for me AS levels where i didnt do too good:\ohwell:

Yeah i got a U in my mocks but came away with a B in maths. GCSEs mean shit all once you've done em and moved on to higher education. I work with a few youths who are/were stressing about their GCSEs and i just told them that they're bound to pass and they'll wonder why the fuck they were so worried in a years time.
And yeah, bit of revision is needed for A levels. Despite the fact that people who havnt even done an A level brand them all as easy

That's because they are fucking easy! I did mine 21 years ago, we didn't get awarded 50% for turning up and remembering to bring a pen with us, then spelling our name right!
I left the teaching profession twelve years ago because I was sick and tired of how actually teaching kids had been forced to take a back seat in favour of number crunching and lesson plans, how tidying things up for an OFSTED report to blag extra funding or avoiding sanctions was seen as a bigger priority than helping children discover new things.
I did the last year of proper A-Levels, and i swear that the 2nd Law paper I did was the hardest exam ever. 5 years on, whenever we get together, we still bring it up.*
Then, i looked at this crummy AS law they do, which is a piece of piss
*of course, it being the hardest exam ever, still didnt stop me from getting 275/300.

And things have only got worse since then... If I hear the phrase 'Valued Added' once more, I'll scream... I've just been looking at my GCSE groups results and comparing them to predictions/targets - one kid got a C, but depending on which set of targets you look at was predicted anything between a B and D... So did he over-achieve, under-achieve or do as well as expected? Someone will want to know and use this info to judge how good a teacher I am, when in reality, I'm sure both the pupil and I are happy with his result, not an especially able kid, but worked hard enough and got a decent grade... But as OM says probably would have done better and got more out of the course if I could concentrate fully on what goes on in the classroom...

Well, Jack, if you did do poorly, I hope there's some sort of clerical error causing you to get all A's!
All i'm saying is that i didn't find my A-Levels easy, and i probably shoulda revised more to have got higher grades! I was one grade off going to my first choice uni :(

hehehe-i gave that up after one week
I made the mistake of not picking the subject i'm best at ie. history. Instead i followed my mates into biology and regretted it since. On the other hand, i've still got a year to make up for it
Why we still persist with so much IT as a separate subject - it's across the whole bloody curriculum anyway and half the time the kids know more about it than the teachers!
